Last night, the Cleveland Museum of Art launched a block party/concert series it has dubbed CMA Ohio City Stages. The event featured a performance by the Mali husband and wife duo Amadou & Mariam, who performed on a huge stage set up near the Transformer Station on West 29th St. The duo’s Afro-pop sensibilities went over well and a throng of fans danced all night at the front of the stage. After the concert, two really strange films about the cosmos by contemporary artist Julia Christensen played on a screen set up on the Transformer Station lawn. Concerts are planned for every Wednesday in July.
