According to an unreleased White House report obtained by NBC News, Columbus, Ohio is listed as a “location to watch” in regards to a possible spike of COVID-19 infections.

NBC News says:

“The data in a May 7 coronavirus task force report are at odds with President Donald Trump’s declaration Monday that ‘all throughout the country, the numbers are coming down rapidly.’

The 10 top areas recorded surges of 72.4 percent or greater over a seven-day period compared to the previous week, according to a set of tables produced for the task force by its data and analytics unit. They include Nashville, Tennessee; Des Moines, Iowa; Amarillo, Texas; and — atop the list, with a 650 percent increase — Central City, Kentucky.

On a separate list of ‘locations to watch,’ which didn’t meet the precise criteria for the first set: Charlotte, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska; Minneapolis; Montgomery, Alabama; Columbus, Ohio; and Phoenix.”


The data on the White House graphic says Franklin County, where Columbus is located, saw 1,021 new cases in the past week, or a 65 percent increase.

According to numbers from Columbus Public Health, there are 4,013 confirmed cases of COVID-19 county-wide and 3,831 probable cases, as of May 11. Ohio overall has 24,777 confirmed and suspected cases.

The CDC is reporting 1,324,488 cases in the U.S. as of May 11 and 79,756 deaths. Those numbers increased by 23,792 new cases and 985 new deaths from data on May 10.

And as Ohio continues to loosen its restrictions this week — retail shops may reopen for business today and salons and barbershops, as well as outdoor dining, may resume on May 15 — Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton continue to remind citizens to observe social distancing and other COVID-19 safety practices.

  1. “Someone” hacked the ODJFS website to prevent reporting of those able to but not willing to go back to work.

    I’m sure it was just some 7-11 employees that wanted more time to play frisbee golf with their friends.

  2. It seems some people in Franklin County learned from the protester that called the “mandates” BS……then contracted it and died learned anything. Plus Columbus has the highest population in the state. Lastly……the good ole boys of the Ohio House of Representatives are against Dr. Amy Acton’s scientific expertise. Passing that bill was the epitome of their arrogance, ignorance and fear of a woman besting them in knowing what’s good for all Ohio citizens. They are pathetic. Vote them out!!

    This is the inevitable result. Same as in Wisconsin and elsewhere.

    Now go and spread it to the Bible-thumping a-holes in the Ohio House. Maybe they’ll die before the smart people vote them out.

  4. We’ll soon see what DeWine’s loosening of restrictions bring. The results will show up in mid-June. Will he re-lockdown or keep going with the loosening of restrictions? I assume the latter.

    The economy will stay bad, perhaps get worse, for the foreseeable future, sadly.

    And it didn’t start with the Plague. It started with the Orange Plague in 2016.

    I really thought we’d get through this nightmare without much permanent damage. I was wrong. We have put our own gun to our own heads and it is our own finger on the trigger. Four more years? Then you won’t have to worry about America being destroyed…there won’t be any America.

    The idiots in Wisconsin had a big protest a couple of weeks ago, and now dozens of them are as sick as dogs. And maybe a lot of them will die. I hope so. I hope all the Columbus clowns die, too. They asked for it, and now they will get what they deserve…the re-opening of their sad world. Open graves, with closed caskets.
