You never have to worry about missing a performance at the 16th annual All Good Music Festival and Campout, which took place over the weekend at Legend Valley Concert Venue in Thornville, Ohio. The All Good organizers don’t schedule any conflicting shows, so when one performance ends, the next one starts up. While the festival offers multiple stages, bands don’t even play simultaneously. This makes All Good the summer’s best music lovers’ festival. Gracing this year’s two side-by-side main stages were big names including Allman Brothers Band, the Flaming Lips, Phil Lesh and Friends, Bob Weir and Bruce Hornsby, and the Mickey Hart Band. For the gray-haired Deadheads in attendance, Lesh, Weir, and Hart’s performances brought them back to the legendary 1988 Grateful Dead concert that took place on this site.

Was there, iffy review, Flaming Lips SUCKED OUT LOUD!!!!!worst set of the weekend if it wasn’t for the xtremly great pre-show goodies floating around and their production I’d say it was the worst set I’ve ever listened to! I mean who wants to watch a dude cry on stage, if they were an up and coming act they wouldn’t be for long. The WeiR and Lesh sets were absolutely sublime, but as to be xpected but coupled with Moon Hooch,Alo, Rumpke,Conspirator & Larry Keel made it worth every cent of the 500 I dropped on my VIP ticket. Cops were present and made everyone well aware of it , made it seem like a concert at a stadium rather than the no holds barred environment that is or was assoc. A.G’s of years past.
Getting in on Thursday was like going from east Germany to west Germany 30 years ago. I have been to festivals all over the world and have never seen such a shakedown upon entering, I mean going through sleeping bags and tents is bad enough but going through cereal and chips… come on. It did keep the nitrous out Thank God!! Searches in and out of the actual venue sucked too. The music was wonderful though, all but the Flaming lips and the nausiating amount of electronica dub step garbage. Just because you have a Mac book pro and a couple programs dosent make you a musician. Bruce and Bobby with the Noisemakers was the highlight, Bobby actually sat on his amp for a couple minutes and just listened. You could tell he was blown away and so were we! Its always a treat to see Phil,and Larry Campbell was a bonus. Maybe the powers that be will work on some logistics for next year and not hire nazis to do security. All in all it was a nice weekend camp out with side of good ol Grateful dead, and you can never go wrong with that!! “All good things in all good time” Happy Birthday Jerr Bear!!!
I have been to many festivals including multiple allgoods, i love allgood, however i will never be attending again as long as it is held in ohio. Marvins mountain top was great but now that its in ohio its seems to have become a police hotspot for athorities to pray on festival goers, i watched large amounts of people getting arrested every day. The police even set up a command camp in the festival grounds driving there gulf karts around busting as many kids as they could every day, there were also many under cover officers busting people for things like marijuana, it unestly discusted me to see all of these beautiful people getting arrested and being halled off to jail. A festival should work to protect the people attending but it seemed like the cops were brought in by the truck load. I understand haveing security but this seemed to be a set up more than anyplace i have ever been. The total reported number of arrest was around 50 but i belive there were many more than that. It was a very sad site to see. However the music was good and in the misic venue part of the festival it was very nice and peaceful. Just watching all those cops pray on all those kids ruined it for me, im sure several of them are still in jail. The drug war is not a war on drugs it is a war on people and this was a prime example of that.
