While domestic violence talk 
takes center stage amid NFL pre-game shows lately, the Cuyahoga County Witness and Victim Service Center brings the discussion a bit closer to home. That group just earned a $650,000 grant from the U.S Department of Justice, which will fund the new Domestic Violence High Risk Team in police districts 1 and 5.

Cuyahoga County was but one of four sites nationwide to earn the grant money. The announcement is timely enough, considering that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Domestic Violence High Risk Team will be active in its districts, maintaining a presence with domestic violence cases well beyond any prosecution. The goal is safety at all times. The First and Fifth Districts are on the far west and northeast sides of Cleveland, respectively.

  1. Well, hopefully this helps and makes someone’s life better. The details on what exactly this grant is going to do seem to be a little skimpy, but I guess $650,000 should allow you to do some good with it.
