As many Ohioans are now entering at least their fourth week of staying at home under Gov. Mike DeWine’s order to only leave to conduct essential business, seek health care and for exercise, and around 700,000 have filed for unemployment benefits from the resultant economic fallout of COVID-19-related business closures, people are asking: When will the state reopen? When will things go back to normal?
In Tuesday’s coronavirus press briefing, both Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton and Gov. DeWine agreed it was less about “when” and more about “how.”
“Until there is a vaccine, this monster — as I’ve referred to it — is going to be working around us and so when we start businesses back up, when we start schools back up, when we start colleges back up, it’s going to be different,” DeWine said. “And what everybody needs to be thinking about — and this is to every business out there that is chomping at the bit to reopen; it’s to every university, every college, every superintendent — you need to be thinking how am I going to open? What am I going to do every single day to keep my employees safe, my customers safe, my students safe, my faculty safe, my teachers safe. And we’re going to work with you on that.”
Acton said part of this reopening process will need to include adequate COVID-19 testing to acknowledge cases when they happen and to do thorough contact tracing to slow the spread of the virus. She said these together will help us to get to a place where we could all be a “lot more free.”
But we’re “going to open up with a situation that is not ideal — that is far, far from ideal,” DeWine said.
And that reopening still has no timeline.
Both Acton and DeWine said when Ohio does reopen, it will involve social distancing — functional social distancing, Acton called it — the use of masks, and a slow trickle back to work. But that in going back to work, employees and employers must also recognize people need to stay home when they’re sick and there need to be safeguards in place so people don’t lose their jobs if they need to stay home when they’re ill.
“Coronavirus is still, as far as we can tell, still going to be very much here, is still going to be, for some people who get it, deadly,” DeWine said, noting that while hospital admissions and deaths have seemed to level off in the last week, 50 Ohioans had died within the last 24 hours.
“I still have people who send me emails who say this is like the flu. I wish it was. It’s not,” he said.
Acton said, “It’s hard for all of us.”

2) The normal timeline for vaccine/drug development is approximately 10 years or more. The safety and efficacy testing for a Covid-19 vaccine has been expedited to get something out to the general public in approximately 1 year.

We’ve been looking for a cure for influenza for over 100 yrs now. I just read someones entries in their diary from someone infected back in 1918 it was common practice to breath in “factory gases” to help prevent from catching the flu, a ammunition factory to be exact. Something within a study that found the workers within that factory had the smallest numbers of people infected. Chlorine makes it hard for the flu to survive but it also kills humans as well. In the diary it states that people would get up to 8 enemas while they had the flu, cause they weren’t any closer to finding a vaccine yet. Dr Timothy Leary administered in San Francisco what they’re calling the first vaccine shot for the flu and he was iffy on all the ingredients. The same Timothy Leary that designed the drug LSD. Have you heard the mainstream media talk about a “finger patch” vaccine? This may be why so many believe it’s designed to include a chip. Currently, Gates is working on indemnity around the globe. He does not want to be liable if the vaccine kills or injured anyone. The US already provides indemnity and has since 1986 though it was intended for children and other safety were supposed to be enacted but never were. Hence, the US infant mortality rate continues to worsen as more and more vaccines are added to the schedule. For anyone who studies vaccines, the names William Thompson, former leader researcher for the CDC, and Andrew Zimmerman MD, former expert witness for DOJ in VAERS cases are important. Meanwhile, antibody testing seems to hold the most promise on knowing who is already safe and wouldn’t need a vaccine while using antibodies from others as a means to treat this could indeed provide us with a treatment that works.
His stance doesn’t seem reasonable considering 1) natural herd immunity is going to be occurring and would be occurring faster if the lockdown wasn’t so large, and 2) none of the other acute resp syndrome vaccines apparently actually work properly like was anticipated after all these years and rather the SARS-1 vaccines seem to make people worse… basically makes people’s immune systems go haywire when actually challenged with the virus. If none of them ever made it through approval for the old viruses, it doesn’t seem logical to think there’s certainty it can be done for this new one. There have been major advances in the last decade in formulating and manufacturing vaccines (that rarely have been used), so I’m not ruling out something revolutionary and unprecedented, but I wouldn’t count on it. That said, I would strongly encourage most people to get vaccinated generally-speaking, even if it means getting the better, more-expensive ones and spreading out the shots for infants if you’re concerned.

He is not going to force us to take a vaccine if he knows what’s best for him! Under Ohio law you cannot force ANYONE to be vaccinated. There are 3 reasons one can exercise informed consent: Either under religious, medical or personal reasons. If he tries to tie this to a driver’s license or any other form of ID, employment requirement or what have you, the gods won’t help him for what will result!
As soon as we hand over responsibility for our safety to the government, we are no longer free. All of us are Americans because our forefathers left over-reaching rulers for the freedom America offered to make their own choices. We are willing to give up what America has stood for for 200 years to be “safe.” And it’s becoming more and more obvious that DeWine has drunk the Kool-Aid. If we do not build up immunity to this thing now, we never will. And a vaccine in not the answer! They have been searching for vaccines for the COMMON COLD and the FLU my entire life, to no avail. Now some will say, “But …but…but the flu vaccine!” YEs, a flu vaccine that still had 60K people die from flu last year. Why? Because viruses mutate. It’s what they do. The flu people get next year is not the same flu as this year or the year before, and vaccines can only address previous mutations of a virus, not current ones, So a vaccine for COVID-19 is NOT going to stop another round of it, it will only address a past mutation. Sitting around waiting for that to be available –and this is another point: it took them YEARS to come up with a flu vaccine, and there is still not one for the common cold, so why are we thinking they will have one for COVID-19 in the next few months. . .unless, of course, they knew about the virus a long time ago–is stupidity. We need to be out and about. More and more doctors are concurring that healthy people need to be out, in contact with others, at work. We will probably contract the virus if we have not already, but that will allow us to build immunity, naturally, so that there is NO need to shut down the entire nation when it comes around again.
