A jury today against Donald Rosenberg today in his lawsuit against the Plain Dealer and members of the Cleveland Orchestra, according to the New York Times.
Rosenberg had sued the paper and editor Susan Goldberg for age discrimination after he was taken off his beat as orchestra critic. His also alleged improper influence by those associated with the orchestra — specifically the governing body, the Musical Arts Association, executive director Gary Hanson, chairman Richard Bogomolny, and former president James D. Ireland III.
Rosenberg had been critical, and some felt overly critical, of director Franz Welser-Möst during his time as orchestra critic. Members associated with the orchestra had complained to editors as the Plain Dealer before the paper removed Rosenberg from writing about classical music, assigning him to general arts writer instead.

Not that it was the same critic but I used to ask myself if I saw the same play the PD critic reviewed. There were times when the comments were harsh and untrue -making a performer not want to come to Cleveland to be reviewed by a wanna be New York critic. Alas I can no longer afford theatre tickets but wanted to share just a thought.
