Lakewood keeps expanding its entertainment options with the opening of World of Beer. Housed in the INA Building at the crossroads of Detroit Avenue and Warren Road, this 3,800-square-foot chain is serious about its suds.

“As of this morning we had 536 bottles of beer,” GM Shawn Freeman boasts. In addition to the bottle holdings, the bar has 50 rotating craft beer handles, with two dedicated to cask ale’s. But don’t ask for a Bud Light here; the focus is strictly on craft and local beers, with more than 60 Ohio breweries represented. Names like Brew Kettle, Hoppin’ Frog, Great Lakes Brewery and Indigo Imp are just a few of the Buckeye-born brews featured.

With two existing locations in Columbus (and many more out of state) this ownership group was very excited about entering the Lakewood market. “Well, living in Lakewood doesn’t hurt,” says Freeman “But we love that Lakewood had great demographics, a great downtown, and a fantastic beer scene.”

Hungry? World of Beer is strictly BYOF. If you don’t want to bring in your favorite grub, WOB has a unique way to get fresh food right to your table. A book of local menus loaded with partnering restaurants (Donatos, Jimmy Johns, Eddie ‘n Eddie…). Just pick up your cell phone, phone in your order and table number — and poof — your order will be delivered right to your table. With over 30 staff members (85 percent of whom are Lakewood residents), Freeman wants to keep the service strong and the vibe cool.

“We just want to provide delicious beer and for people to enjoy themselves.”
