For all the worry about how the lingering corruption scandal would influence voters, Ed Fitzgerald pulled out a tidy win to become County Executive.

How did this happen?

A Plain Dealer analysis shows that party loyalists and heavily Democratic precincts carried Fitzgerald to the win.

  1. The PD sure did its best to sink Fitz’s ship with tenuous corruption innuendo. In the end I think voters saw through the smoke and mirrors. Fitz is clean, one phone call from Dimora and awarding a contract to the lowest bidder did not change that. As a Lakewood resident I think he made some noticeable improvements for the city, financially and otherwise. I expect he will do the same for the county.
