Last week Executive-elect Ed Fitzgerald cleaned out the auditor’s office, ground-zero for patronage and cronyism in Cuyahoga County for the better part of the last two decades. It was a sweeping move, one needed both in function and for symbolic reasons.
It seems, at least for the moment, that Fitzgerald is not only 100% committed to ending impropriety in Cuyahoga County government, but also ending any perception of impropriety.
Today he has invited all county employees who would fall under the county executive’s direction to a meeting to explain his vision going forward.

Employees will have to card themselves into the Courthouse. Any chance the Scene could obtain a list of those who were in attendance? Departments, etc; County employees do not appreciate doing something on their own time, unless it involves a bunch of free food and drink, or comp time! With some futures at stake it would be nice to know. Also, any idea when the rest of the former Auditor’s sycophants are going to be eliminated? They are substantial in number!
At least the employees didn’t have to buy a raffle tickets to go. Tell me if I worked at the county would you want to be in a Courthouse. At first I thought it was a scam, like they tell you win something and you show up and go to jail.
