COLUMBUS, Ohio – As summertime begins to wind down, a new report outlines how climate change is putting a damper on many of the popular summer experiences enjoyed by Ohioans.
The research released today by the National Wildlife Federation found that excessive heat, toxic algae and increases in ticks, mosquitoes and noxious weeds are disrupting swimming, fishing, hiking, camping and other favorite outdoor activities.
Frank Szollosi, manager of the federation’s Great Lakes Outreach Campaign, said the changing climate is even impacting America’s favorite pastime.
“In some parks, the humidity and the heat means more home runs,” he said. “While that’s great for the fans and for the batters, I’m certain the pitchers don’t like pitching in conditions that make it more conducive to the long ball.”
He said heavy rainfall and other extreme weather events caused a record number of postponed Major League Baseball games this season. Popular vacation spots also are threatened by the warming climate, as the report notes sea-level rise, flooding and more severe and frequent storms are hurting beach quality. In Florida alone, nearly half the state’s beaches are seeing critical erosion.
Excessive heat in summer months also is a burden on Ohioans, said Szollosi, especially those who have health conditions or struggle to afford air conditioning.
“It puts their health at risk,” he said, “or they have to make some decisions about, ‘Do we pay the electric bill, or pay the rent or buy food?’ These are the types of real-world impacts that people need to understand.”
Retired National Wildlife Federation senior scientist Doug Inkley said there are solutions to address these problems and ensure safer summers for the future.
“We not just can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, but we have the means to actually use alternative energy sources,” he said. “Now’s the time; the sooner we do it, the better. If we wait too long, it’s going to be much, much harder to do and the impacts of climate change are going to be much greater on all of us.”
The report recommended policies that cut pollution from power plants, reduce vehicle emissions, expand renewable energy and reduce methane pollution from the oil and gas industry.

Call your local politician on this problem. Elect new ones. The US military is spraying this entire region with chemicals every day using unmarked tanker jets. Those white lines and fake clouds in the sky all the time now, those are chemicals.
They won’t say why they are doing this but will soon tell us they have to do it to combat global warming. Everything is a lie.
We’re under the busiest air-traffic corridor in the country…New York-Chicago. Those white lines are contrails from commercial passenger jets. The “fake clouds” are caused when uppwe-level winds disperse the contrails, sometimes causing an increase in cloudiness (Lake Erie will do the rest). Your “fake clouds” are “fake news”, caused by drinking the purple Kool-Aid.
To exiled- you are wrong. While there is a large amount of commercial air traffic, these planes are normal long nose passenger jets. These Passenger jets come up on flight radar. These planes don’t leave trails.
I am referring to the short nosed, unmarked tanker jets that criss cross, fly straight up and down and ate often seen flying together or in groups. They sometimes look like rockets. They always have trails and never come up on any flight radar even when there are over 10 here at once. These planes leave thick trails that dissipate into fake clouds cover.
Anyone can see this. Only an idiot would believe that it is condensation and not question the unusual plane activity. Drink your own koolaid, mix it with your fluoridated tap water zombiboi.
It surprises me that people still deny the existence of chemtrails when climate scientists and government agencies have been saying for years that they intend to create artificial clouds in the stratosphere to cool the atmosphere. All the while the mainstream media denies it and the ignorant masses follow suit because they’re too lazy to do any independent research.
Ken Caldeira, a leading climate scientist at the Carnegie Institution in 2008…. “One approach is to insert scatterers into the stratosphere, states the article. Caldeira cites an idea to deploy jumbo jets into the upper atmosphere and deposit clouds of tiny particles there, such as sulphur dioxide. Dispersing around 1m tonnes of sulphur dioxide per year across 10m square kilometres of the atmosphere would be enough to reflect away sufficient amounts of sunlight.
The Department of Energy’s Atmospheric Science Program……which had posted directly on the DOE website…..The current focus of the program is aerosol radiative forcing of climate: aerosol formation and evolution and aerosol properties that affect direct and indirect influences on climate and climate change.

I learned about the geoengineering spray program from a presentation by John Brennan (yes THAT John Brennan) in which he explains in detail the exact aircraft activity which we see (and have been seeing) in our skies for years. In 2012 Barack Obama put a gag order on all media outlets regarding geoengineering and chemtrails. Academia went along with the fake science about climate change and is still covering for the spray operations.
People like “exiled” are used to shout down any realistic questions about the obvious program by claiming it’s “conspiracy theory”. It’s pretty obvious. If these planes were all going chi to NY the lines would always be the same. Instead they are every which way. If these planes with the trails were flying passengers they would come up on flight tracker. They do not. This is simple stuff made complicated by preprogrammed know-it-alls who literally know nothing.
I thought it was unusual when I started seeing the streak planes through the tops of the buildings downtown. I thought it was weird that I was, all the sudden, seeing dozens of these planes on just a short commute to work. One sunset at Edgewater Park was enough for anyone to realize something is going on up there without our knowledge or consent: in less than an hour I counted more than 50, literally 50 of these streak planes made pass after pass spraying until the sun was no longer visible. Even if they’re not spraying, wtf are they doing? Does not burning massive amounts of jet fuel contribute to pollution and climate change. And why does everyone media outlet ignore this or ridicule those smart enough to ask about it. Sounds like a conspiracy to me.
