[image-1]Something of a local legend in Cleveland sports circles, McNeil commands an engaged following of Browns, Cavs, Indians and Buckeyes fans. His latest move? This morning, he filed paperwork with the city of Cleveland for a parade in honor of the Browns’ inevitable perfect 0-16 season.

Check the Facebook details here.

The parade is being planned for Jan. 7.

Now, of course, we support this endeavor wholeheartedly. This is history! (Note that the 2008 Detroit Lions won their four preseason games. The 2016 Browns didn’t! And the three other winless NFL teams from over the years all earned their stripes before the league took on 16-game seasons. The Browns have a shot at glory!)

Bear in mind, too, that there was a widely followed Facebook event for the Indians World Series parade — an event that, sadly, did not come to pass. We don’t foresee the same problems with this one.

  1. Immediately after the final game, stand-up comic/head coach Hue Jackson will change his “It’s on me” punchline to “It’s on them”…..while pointing to the analytics fun bunch.

  2. There has not been a Browns win since last December 13th, when they beat San Francisco. Prior to that date, they had lost seven straight. After the win, they lost their last three regular-season games, all four pre-season games this year, and now ten regular season games and counting.

So if they drop the remaining six contests, which seems likely, and if you include the pre-season, their record since mid October of last year will be one win and thirty defeats. Has anyone in the NFL even come close to this in the past?

Too bad they beat the 49ers last year…a 27-game losing streak (31 straight if you count the pre-season) would be something to yell about…and a wonderfully crazy excuse for a goofy mid-winter parade, like the Doo-Dah Parade they have in SoCal every year. Or our own Parade the Circle in June. But hey, 1-26 (or 1-30) is also a pretty cool excuse, too.

I’m a lifelong Die-Hard Cub Fan, and I’ve always said that every dog has it’s day (especially after this historic season). But I’m no longer sure that every Dawg has its day. Can’t get much worse than this. And there’s really no relief in sight.
