This guy has a lot of hate. I feel sorry for you Mr. Jack, yet I am grateful to you that you are risking your life for so many others. You really need to calm down though- I mean you will piss on this guy’s grave, for speaking his mind in a newspaper? Don’t you realize that you are in an organization that protects the constitution? Thanks again for protecting our country, but you really have to look at the big picture. Listening to someone who can’t live their own lives correctly, but tells everyone else how to do it is just not a sane man. First off, thank you for your service. Enough said, I won’t belabor.
I grew up in P’ville and moved to Arizona almost 20 years ago. You want to talk about a problem with Mexicans? Take a trip to Phoenix, bucko.
Remember Archie Bunker? During the heyday of that show many people thought the way he thought, including my own friends and family. We all thought Mike Stivic was just that, a meathead with his commie pinko views towards integration, social reform and corporate responsibility.
My how times change.
The problem is not that the Mexicans have taken over, it’s that we have become spoiled. Are you willing to wash your own car? Are you willing to cut your grass or trim your trees when it’s 100 degrees or more outside with 95 percent humidity? Are you willing to go outside when the wind chill factor is hovering at 30 below and you have icicles on your ass to shovel your driveway?
The majority of people would shout, “f**K no!” from the rooftops because it’s too menial and by golly we’re red-blooded flag-waving, beer-drinking ‘Mericans’ who love Momma and Nascar and hate them damn commie foreigners.
Wake up and smell the Schlitz.
If the work wasn’t here and the money wasn’t good do you think the majority of people here illegally would risk life and limb to come here?

It is an economic issue at the core, plain and simple. As individuals move up the socioeconomic ladder there must always be a lower tier, regardless, and that’s the American Dream; to be better off than our parents were. 50 years ago most of the menial jobs were held by Blacks. Now that a large number of Blacks have moved up the ladder to the Middle Class, who’s going to wash windows, clean bathrooms and mow our yards? Are you going to do it? Oh hell no. That’s beneath me. I’ll get Pedro or Juan or Maria to do that…
What we are seeing is that rather than the Blacks of 50 years ago who created awareness and moved their causes along with peaceful protest through great men like Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior and Rosa Parks, we are seeing a much more vocal microcosm that demands to be recognized. As a merchant, I’m not crazy about having to acquiesce but there’s a lot of money there, and if by learning a new set of customs and perhaps a language I can significantly increase my bottom line, then I say ‘Bienvenidos’.
Is the present system flawed? Is Paris Hilton a bimbo? Yes to both questions. But how do we propose to fix the problem? Drive all them damn furreners out of Dodge? Ain’t gonna happen. And for anyone to say that these people are stealing jobs from us patriotic Americans is bull. I can’t recall the last time I saw a white guy wiping down cars at the car wash. And I sure as hell don’t see any of my friends and neighbors up on the roof of a house in a new development humping shingles 10 hours a day 6 days a week.
No, I don’t agree that babies being born here to foreign mothers should automatically become citizens; perhaps eligibility hearings before that child is enrolled in school to ensure the parents have legitimately tried or are trying to become naturalized, I don’t know.
The bottom line is this; the article was fair and balanced, Jack, and not the work of some long-haired freaky type commie fag (sorry Charlie Daniels). It pointed out not only that there has been and will continue to be a paradigm shift in neighborhoods in Painesville and Lake County, but across this country as well. Unless we learn to embrace diversity and understand that there must always be a subclass for menial workers there will always be those that feel threatened.
Either that or we stop being lazy and start doing the work ourselves, and I see a snowball’s chance in hell of that happening.
