You think you know everything about your favorite team, and then bam, something new.

UniWatch has a phenomenal post today about the pic above, which is a 1958 wire photo showing a uniform prototype for the Wahoos that never made it on the field. Neat, right?

Both of these were actually prototypes at the time, according to the description, with the one on the left the one they opted to wear that season. (Except the caption says the pinstripes on the uni were red, and they went with blue pinstripes in the eventual design. Or, as the report points out, the caption might just be wrong.)

The one on the right, however, never saw the field. More than that, even the Baseball Hall of Fame, which has a near-exhaustive exhibit on baseball uniform history, had never seen it before.

One reply on “Here’s a Prototype Indians Uniform The Team Never Wore”

  1. Even though I was a little kid in 1958 it does’nt look like a uniform Cleveland Fans would have liked, and I really hope they never revisit that idea in the future. I love the Indians what I would like to see is them wearing a red jersey with the white pants at home, just like when they wear the blue jersey and white pants. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL WITH IDIANS AT HOME & CLEVELAND ON THE ROAD WRITTEN IN SCRIPT ACROSS THE CHEST!!! they should think about that.
