The video below was shown in-game last night and had more than a few fans and reporters rightly upset that the attempt at humor (a spoof on Dirty Dancing) displayed an uncanny tone-deaf ignorance of domestic violence. Because what’s funnier than a guy throwing his girlfriend? And what’s more hilarious than a guy getting a woman to agree with him through violence? “Don’t make the same mistake she made.” Nice.

Anyway, here it is, courtesy of @steventurous.

  1. Can we please be any more over sensitive? I mean come on people, I’ve peeled onions with thicker skins.

  2. Maybe the Scene should take a good hard look at itself. Considering how much of your ad space is devoted to strip joints, phone sex lines etc., I’d say you folks have a pretty lousy record when it comes to women being exploited. The video was a spoof. Get real.

  3. This skit is just an ill-advised idea, and a clunky joke at best. I’m surprised it aired at the arena because it’s tone deaf and clueless about the current climate. Whether you’re offended or not, it damages the Cavs brand.

  4. Believing that a 1987 flick continues to have such incredible pop culture significance where countless thousands of sports fans would get the inside joke concocted by corporate suits sitting around a table is ludicrous — and where this thing completely fell apart.
