Cleveland has no shortage of Christmas-themed events these next few weeks, but one of the city’s most popular annual events returns this weekend with Holiday CircleFest skating to University Circle tonight.

Friday night’s kickoff features a special polka skate at the Wade Oval Rink from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., yes, with an actual live polka band providing the music.

Saturday and Sunday’s itineraries, however, are more packed, with activities at more than a dozen of the cultural district’s museums, gardens, galleries, churches and schools from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Expect live music, local shopping opportunities and even fire art throughout the whole area. On Wade Oval expect more than skating with the inclusion of ice carving demos, horse-drawn carriage rides and other activities. The event culminates with the Cleveland Museum of Art’s free Winter Lights Lantern Procession at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
