Exercising your first amendment right is part of being a responsible citizen in this country. Unfortunately for those wanting to protest police brutality and racial injustice against Black people, we are also in the midst of a global pandemic that spreads very easily.

So, if you’re out protesting, and want to stay safe from COVID-19, experts recommend the following steps:

Before the protest:
1. Wear a mask
2. Bring a backup mask
3. Bring hand sanitizer
4. Wear goggles or something that protects your eyes
5. Bring plenty of water
6. Find a smaller protest if possible
7. DO NOT GO IF YOU’RE FEELING SICK.
8.. Do not protest if you’re immunocompromised. There are other ways to help
9. Make a sign or bring a noisemaker instead of yelling (yelling could emit more droplets of COVID-19)

During the protest:
10. Stay with a buddy group to reduce close contact with others
11. Sanitize your hands periodically
12. Maintain safe distance from others
13. Avoid shaking hands and high-fiving
14. If you get teargassed, try to avoid rubbing your eyes and nose

After the protest:
15. Wash your hands immediately
16. Take your clothes off and wash throw them in the washer or store them somewhere to wash later
17. Take a shower
18. Consider quarantining for 14-days if you haven’t followed any of the previous steps
19. After four days of not protesting, take a COVID-19 test if possible

  1. So we still do not have an alibi from Sam Allard, Vince Grzegorek and other scene staffers during the riot downtown Saturday. What is known for sure is that Sam Allard was at the protest until 3, when he goes dark. Scene’s offices were cleared out in advance of the riots and left untouched during them. Sam nor any other scene staffers were seen helping in the cleanup the next day. Its possible they were suffering from riot hangover from smashing up their own community or at least hosting an antifa pizza party safe space out of their office during the mayhem the night before.

  2. No, YOU want answers, Wingnut. Sam and Vince owe you nothing.

  3. Hey Brent, hope them pockets are deep. Deleting Pete Kotz’s article that recommended targets for rioting and looting wasn’t sufficient.

I’ve sent all my archives of the different iterations of it to the Legal Departments of the Companies you slandered and singled out to be destroyed.

It’s going to be useful in any pending lawsuits you’re facing as well.

Thanks for swinging public sentiment against you and your Organization and making it so easy to be sure that you’ll be financially paying out the fucking ass.

  4. An important missing step was omitted here… You forgot to instruct the destructive crowd to head straight to Taxin Jackson’s house, and then over to thief Budish’s, round them and their criminal relatives up, and throw them ALL into Lake Erie!!!

It’s obvious that our so-called “local leaders” are completely incompetent in keeping our city safe and thriving.

All they seem to know how to do is tax as much as they can get away with from us folks that actually have to work and own property in this corruption-filled, dump of a city and county!!!

  5. fox8 and othe local media report confirmation that the riot damage was planned and carried put by antifa groups who use Facebook and other networks to communicate. They also said that at the time they arrested most people, these instigators were gone (or hiding out in the scene office)

  6. 20) Before it turns in to a riot, check in with the loser behinds you and ask him not to accidentally hit you in the back of the head with a brick.

  7. 21) if you need a safe space, bathroom, medical care, or a slice of pizza during the next planned riot, the Scene offices are a safe space for rioters as they destroy our community.

  8. 22) if you see a person wearing all black clothing and concealing their identity, it is likely they plan on doing something illegal. Call these people dressed in black bloc style, ask their identities and what they are doing there. Better yet, ask them to leave. We don’t need antifa paramilitary wannabes at protests for minority causes.
