IKEA Coming to Crocker Park in Spring 2027

The iconic blue-and-yellow warehouse is coming to Crocker Park.

Next spring, the Swedish manufacturer of chic and affordable furniture is opening its third store in Ohio, this one in the former Dick’s Sporting Goods space at 300 Crocker Park Blvd.

Cleveland’s first IKEA will be roughly 80,000 square feet and have about 3,000 items for takeaway sale, IKEA announced Tuesday morning. Crocker Park’s opening follows the company’s plans last year of opening about a dozen smaller-format stores across Europe and North America.

“As we continue growing our presence across the U.S., we’re focused on meeting customers where they are and creating more convenient ways to shop with IKEA,” IKEA COO Rob Olson said in a press release.

“Westlake represents an exciting opportunity to connect with more people in Northern Ohio,” he added, “and help them create homes that reflect their needs, style and budget.”

Founded by Ingvar Kamprad in Småland, Sweden, in the 1940s, the design-focused company exploded across the globe in the growing suburban world of the 1960s. By then, IKEA became known for its sleek designs (especially its flatpack furniture) and affordability, made possible through low overheads and delivery straight from the factory.

IKEA expanded throughout the U.S. in the 1980s. Stores opened up in Columbus and Indianapolis in 2017, and in Milwaukee in 2018.

And now, as many had been long wishing, Cleveland.

Along with roughly 250 furniture pieces for sale, Cleveland’s store will play host to a flock of IKEA design consultants, a buy-used area, and, of course, its iconic Swedish Deli, with meatballs, hot dogs and cinnamon buns for sale.

Crocker Park’s store will open Spring 2027.

“The box is officially open,” the district’s Instagram page announced Thursday. “After all the guesses, theories, and anticipation… the wait is finally over.”
