A new episode of Motives and Murders: Cracking the Case on Investigation Discovery will focus on the 1984 rape and murder of Gloria Pointer.

The episode will air at 9 p.m. March 10 on Investigation Discovery.

During the episode, detectives and family members discuss the case at length — the decades of uncertainty and “what ifs” and sadness. Gloria’s mother, Yvonne Pointer, is a prominent voice in the episode, tracking the confusion and sorrow that followed her daughter’s murder. Yvonne would go on to become a vocal advocate for the families of missing persons and victims of violence.

We profiled Yvonne Pointer in our 2013 People Issue. A good portion of the episode details Yvonne’s hopeful forays into activism.

After police began sorting and testing stored DNA evidence at the behest of Plain Dealer reporting, they finally identified a suspect in Gloria’s death in 2013. A man named Hernandez Warren was arrested for Gloria’s murder.
