Republicans are up in arms this year about the skyrocketing deficit. Of course, once the Bush tax cuts expire at the end of the year the deficit would immediately shrink by 30%. What does the GOP want to do? Extend the Bush tax cuts, naturally. And then still bitch about the deficit.

As you would imagine, Republicans have a hard time explaining clearly how they can stand behind both of these seemingly at-odds beliefs. John Boehner’s attempt to describe the GOP’s thinking was especially confusing and inept. Plus he’s looking really orange these days. Or brown. Or brownish-orange. Whatever, he just looks weird.

Jon Stewart examined the situation last night.
