Judge Bridget McCafferty with Jimmy Dimora and Frank Russo during happier times.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Bridget McCafferty had planned a fundraiser for tonight at The Harp.

Election season is well underway and McCafferty was looking to pad her campaign chest heading into November.

Of course, she’s a little indisposed at the moment, being under arrest by the FBI and all.

McCafferty is charged with making rulings in her courtroom at the behest of Russo and Dimora in connection with cases involving contractors connected to the duo in the Cuyahoga County corruption probe.

(Incidentally, the money quote from McCafferty’s website: “I believe being a judge is a way of ensuring dignity and justice for our community.” And… whatever Jimmy and Frank want.)

Anyway, no one answered the phone at McCafferty’s election headquarters, but a kindly worker at The Harp answered the phone and said the campaign fundraiser is off.

Too bad — they could have made it a bail fundraiser instead.

  1. Man this is turning out to be the best day in Cleveland since Gloria & Delonte’ Did The Nasty became public knowledge!

  2. i agree, Chubby! anybody visiting the city today will be wondering about all the shit-eatin grins going on.

  3. I have a very close friend who got an unfair trial and an outrageous sentence from this judge. I do not easily or often express glee at the downfall of another person but this judge convinced me almost 10 years ago that she is an educated fool who has repeatedly demonstrated the same sort of poor judgment that got her into this mess. I’ve never lived in Cleveland and from what I know about it I would never care to. Some of the buffoons and the opportunists in the local justice system there have removed themselves from the game already but at the expense of a lot of good people who may have made relatively small mistakes, but got far more than they deserved in every case. Though not all among Judge Bridget McCafferty’s victims some of the victims of the overall justice system that I personally know of are Elsebeth Baumgartner and her husband and children, Dr Bruce Feldman and his family, patients and employees, and Dr Anthony Andrejic and his family, friends and colleagues. Some other “victims” of judge McCafferty’s poor insight are people like Sharon Pihlblad and her children, all of whom have been removed from Mrs. Pihlblad’s custody because McCafferty believed her, failed to verify a number of issues and allowed her to continue her drug addiction and prostitution resulting in horrible lives for her children. Part of the blame in all of these cases must be allotted to the citizens who blindly voted McCafferty into office multiple times. People who do not read about candidates and issues and just go blindly vote without looking into the recipient of their votes are contributers to these problems. Judge McCafferty is a symptom of a national problem, people do not see themselves as “responsible” and sit back waiting for “they” to do something. “They” is you and I. WE have to remove people like this from positions of power.

  4. Was it Wm. Denihan and his wife Mary Kovacic-Denihan who were the scheduled hosts of McCafferty’s “fund-raising party” ??
