“Multiple threats of gun violence towards this specific event were communicated to advanced ticket sales representatives,” according to a statement released by Daniel Beavers, president of the Chagrin Valley Jaycees. No further details were offered.
Separately, more than 600 people signed a change.org petition urging the mayor to cancel the event. The petition cites the transmission of tuberculosis, the potential for escaped animals, and the inevitability of traffic headaches as reasons to boot the circus. A protest was also planned for the July 27 event.

Is this where the rabid will show up to slam the protesters over the cancellation?
The Jaycees knew the exact nature of the threats leading to the cancellation (not the protesters) yet they released a purposefully vague statement in order to try to paint the protesters in a bad light.
Whoever made those violent threats, this is Geauga 2015, not the Wild West in 1815. Where were you when the peaceful protesters were making their voices heard and collecting over 600 signatures? Maybe your cause was over the noise, congestion, or something else, but violence is not the way. If you would not be proud to show Thoreau, MLK, or Gandhi your work, do not do it.
