Ariel Castro appeared before Judge Michael Russo today. He accepted a plea agreement that ultimately garnered him a life sentence *plus* 1,000 years in prison.

“I don’t care for the wording, but I will plead guilty,” he told the judge as the roster of 977 counts against him was read.

Throughout the appearance, Russo repeatedly emphasized that he will never be permitted parole or any other conceivable opportunity at leaving jail. He will, to paraphrase the onslaught of tweets this morning, rot in hell as his life wanes onward.

Really, there’s not much more to be said beyond that. Castro answered Russo’s questions, giving those tuning in to the live feed a chance at actually hearing the monster speak. He said he understood that he will never be free again, though he added this: “There are some things I don’t understand because of my sexual problems.” Later in the hearing, Castro discussed being on the other end of sexual abuse when he was younger: “I would like to state that I was also a victim as a child.” Russo interrupted that bullshit real quick and said that he will have a chance to opine at a later time.

The book was thrown at him. And his three victims – Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight – will not have to withstand the torture of testifying in court.

Ariel Castro is gone.

  1. Victim as a child you say??? Were you expecting sympathy by using that statement, maybe to claim a “sex addict” for a lesser charge? Just wait until those prison men get ahold of you, then you can cry victim, fucking scumbag.

  2. Its over hes gone now let those beautiful women and baby move forward down the path the holds many good things to come

  3. I like that the 3 women do not have to go to trial but I hate that our tax dollars have to pay for that monster for the rest of his life. While I pay over $700 premium a month not to mention all the deductible and coinsurance just for medical for just me, and this creep gets to live with all expenses paid by we the tax payers. He gets cable, Internet, free room, free food, medical, dental vision. .. Yes he’s in prison. That’s great. I really have a problem supporting these monsters especially when I’m having such a tough time myself.

  4. Well, if the price to pay for sparing the women the agony of a trial is this, then I would say it’s worth it.

  5. All that being said though, I would have enjoyed some creative sentencing on this case as well. For instance, life in prison without parole, plus 500 years, plus a swift kick in the nuts every single day for the rest of his life. Now that’s creative punishment.

  6. how about doing the exact same thing to him that he did to each of his victims? everything he did to them, he deserves to feel for himself

  7. People need to get their priorities in order, you are worried about your tax dollars?!what about the three women who will suffer mental scars for life?and you’re worried about your stinking tax dollars lady look at the bigger picture here please!
