The Cedar Lee Theatre was all set to finally open the acclaimed late-2011 movie We Need to Talk About Kevin on March 9.
Then the Chardon tragedy happened, and the film — which is about a troubled boy who goes on a shooting spree at his high school — was pulled from the schedule.
Too bad, because Tilda Swinton’s performance, as a mother trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life after her kid’s killing rampage, is terrific (she was nominated for way too many awards to list here, including a Golden Globe).
And unfortunately it doesn’t look like you’ll have a chance to see the movie on the big screen in Cleveland.
A spokesman for Cleveland Cinemas says there’s no new date “at this time,” which means you’ll probably have to wait until May 29, when the movie comes out on home video, to see Swinton’s great performance. —Michael Gallucci

Sounds like the movie would not hurt, and may help some understand the crazy world we live in and how to make it less crazy.
Seems like as long as the movie does not glorify the tradgedies of school killings like say we glorified Bonnie and Clyde and Al Capone and MGK for their violent behavior, it should do no harm and maybe some good. It is kind of like banning a movie about a war in which some people were killed from the area. The movie if it is done well, which it sounds like it has been, should not be blacked out in those areas which have had the most recent school shootings. Seems kind of silly, but then I have not seen the movie.
Who is this group who decides these types of things? By what authority do they censor certain movies. Are there doctors of psycology and behavior studies, especially Post Trauma Stress Disorder experts and counselors helping such desisions, or was it just some concerned busy-bodies who think they know what is best for everyone? These are ligitimate questions and I hope to get more than just a—it was voted on by the FCC members and the Dispatch and the PD and it was determined that it would be best to control-freak this situation before it gets out of hand. Control freaks to the rescue…Now if there is science behind this censorship move I stand corrected.
