After the July 18 disappearance of Fremont resident Cory Barron during the Jason Aldean concert at Progressive Field, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that his body turned up in a landfill in Oberlin on Tuesday. He was 22.

The news caps a long weekend of bleak conjecture, including the discovery of another body in Gordon Park that was later identified as a 27-year-old man.

Barron’s friends and family say that he was last seen sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. at the concert. He left the group at one point and never returned.

Currently, Cleveland police are at Progressive Field en masse, much as they have been throughout the past several days. There’s no word yet on the cause of death.

Employees at the Lorain County Landfill say that Barron’s body was discovered this morning. It was learned that his body arrived via trash containers that are delivered daily to the landfill from areas around Cleveland. The canister containing his body came in from Progressive Field.

  1. uhm…. The guy fell down a trash chute? What has become of our world? What has become of your brains?

  2. I don’t believe you just fall down a trash chute! He had to be pushed down it or something!

  3. Scene Magazine seems to have a strong undercurrent of cruel meathead readers who don’t read real newspapers, but have strong opinions on everything. Embarrassing.?

  4. This poor kid died. ” Johnny Rock n’ Roll “, has determined cause of death as…..

  5. Progressive field is safe. Just not when you’re drunk off yer arse and doing stupid shit. Darwinism’s a bitch.

  6. Right – the longer report (in the Plain Dealer) said he was extremely intoxicated. Sounds like a crazy accident.

  7. Ballparks are actually very safe. It’s usually drunks who die when they fall off the upper deck while going after a ball…or who trip and roll down the steps. I do remember seeing two guys having a fight at Wrigley–and they tumbled off the upper deck. One of them died. And decades ago, in NYC, a guy was shot to death in his seat at the old Polo Grounds…some kid decided to fire a rifle off a project roof…supposedly at pigeons. Yeah…right. Bullet holes have also been found in upper deck seats at Comiskey. Just a heads-up for road trippers.

What’s weird is that it took so long to find the body…long enough for it to be trucked out of the stadium. Supposedly, the whole place was searched multiple times…both by the cops and by the maintenance people. And even the FBI was involved. It’s odd that they missed seeing his body long enough for it to end up in Lorain County. Lucky it was spotted there, or he might never have been found.

Not into country at all…never heard of the dude who was playing…didn’t even know there was a concert that night…thought it was a ballgame…until I remembered that the Tribe was in Detroit. Very strange and very sad. Condolences to his family. Guess he’s in Hillbilly Heaven now.
