When it first opened in 2011, Luna had 15 indoor seats and a large patio — as well as that delicious focus on fine French pastries. They have since grown (with two large expansions) and evolved into much more than just a bakery.
Luna continued attracting hungry customers into the store after adding a full breakfast and lunch menu — including panini-style sandwiches, salads and crepes — in addition to their croissants and macaroons.
Of course, they never lost their roots in French baking, as they supported several trained pastry chefs within their 40 employees — almost double what they had when they first opened.
Bridget Thibeault, the café’s co-owner, said in an interview with Crain’s Cleveland Business that often “people beg us to open another location,” and finally the bakery is answering its customers’ requests.
The new location will be smaller, with two stands — one for crepes and another for breakfast pastries. It will be taking the place in the Van Aken shopping strip where Fresh Market formerly stood. The same Crain’s article reported that Luna will be adding another 500 square feet and 25 more seats to accommodate demand at the original location, providing much-needed space during peak hours on the weekends when there’s often a long line for brunch and a wait time of 30 minutes for crepes.
Luna has been featured in multiple Scene articles including 14 Top Cleveland Coffee Shops, Love Bites, and 10 Best Brunch Spots in Cleveland.
The bakery and café is located at 2482 Fairmount Blvd., 216-231-8585.
