Mad Men want to know more about Society Lounge

  • Mad Men want to know more about Society Lounge

A new “Mad Men”-era cocktail lounge, Society Lounge, will be opening at 2061 East 4th Street, in the lower-level of the Frederick Building, which also houses Saigon Restaurant & Bar.

Society Lounge owner Andrew Pucella says, “Although our décor will reflect the era between 1950 and 1970 — essentially the time period of Mad Men — our vintage cocktails will be from pre-prohibition to World War II.”

Cocktails will be made with hand-squeezed juices and house-made sodas. Pucella says, “We will also feature small plates and live music.”

Although, Pucella is doing his best to be open by the end of February, he thinks the first week in March is more realistic.

Pucella promises, “A place that will return us to a time when folks dressed up to go to a bar and listen to live, Rat Pack style-music with a great cocktail in their hand.”

  1. And make sure you charge A LOT!!!!!
Nothing like sipping overpriced cocktails in a thrift store setting…
Anyone up for a $5.00 bottle of domestic beer then?
There is this place in Old Brooklyn called Sachsenheim Hall….
It’s kinda their vibe but not so over the top…
    More reality based…

  2. I actually think this whole idea sounds pretty sweet. I’d get all dressed up in a suit and throw on a nice hat to sit in this place. Maybe if they pump in a whole bunch of fake smoke (in lieu of real cigarette smoke), then they can really set the atmosphere…

  3. Sachsenheim Hall is great but it is far from being il old brooklyn. Pretty sure 70th & denison area is known as the stockyards.
