There are simply no words for this magnificent police blotter item from Hudson, OH.
You simply must read this tale for yourself.
The scene: a man sees what he thinks is a suspicious package at his house.
Enter: hilarity.
A Sullivan Road resident called police to report a “suspicious package” on his front porch Nov. 2 at 3:20 p.m.
The resident said he observed an unknown person leave the package and called police, according to the police report.
The officer said he could see the package was clearly labeled with the Amazon.com logo and asked the man if he had ordered anything from the firm recently.
The man reportedly said “Why yes, I did.”
The officer told the resident his order had arrived. The resident then said he was comfortable opening the box. The officer then left the scene, according to the report.
This article appears in Nov 10-16, 2010.

In this day and age, can we really fault someone for having the where withall to be extra cautious around things? What if the label on the box was facing the wrong way? What if our enemies had simply drawn a logo on it with a sharpee, which is freely available in any store without so much as an ID? What if they ordered it off his wishlist for him, and filled it with something that he had a known allergy to, like peanuts?
We all must be alert and on guard. Calling this man an idiot is harsh.
He ordered from AMAZON, and his purchase arrived, so he calls the police!
He most certainly qualifies as an idiot.
How could he be sure it was HIS package, without opening it?
This doesn’t give the “resident’s” age but in my experience, this is exactly the kind of thng an elderly person with beginning to moderate Alzheimer’s or dementia would be fearful of, and call police about, especially if they lived alone and had no one to reassure them that the UPS guy was OK. Someday, when you are caring for your parents who do this sort of thing, you won’t be so quick to call them idiots.
This man was most certainly a moron and maybe should be included as an “enemy” to the prosperity of humanity.
