The folks over at Business Insider recently put together this map detailing the most conservative and liberal cities in each state, based on data compiled by Clarity Campaign Labs.

In Ohio, Shaker Heights was ranked the most liberal.

The most conservative? Well, that’s Mount Cory, a teensy town in Hancock County made up of some 300 people.

What do you think— sound about right?

  1. Huh, does anyone else think its funny that the Liberal cites are actually nice cities and I have never heard of any of the conservative ones? And Shaker is full of vegetarian Prius drivers.

  2. “Nice” is relative, and just because you have heard of a city or that it is big, does not make it “nice.” It’s also no secret that large metropolises are liberal havens.. But, they also cost the most and have the highest crime rates. Does that make them bad? No. It just is what it is.

  3. “Large metropolises are liberal havens”? Since when?

If I had guessed, I’d have chosen one of Cincinnati’s suburbs.

Around here, I’m surprised Chagrin Falls did not “win”.

  4. Oberlin is a college town, and while the college is very liberal, the town itself is quite rural.

  5. I actually went to school at Cory-Rawson which is a combination of Mt Cory, Ohio and Rawson, Ohio and their Surrounding areas. So hey, there you have it, someone has heard of that town with only 300 people. I myself grew up outside of Bluffton, Ohio, but can tell you the people of Mt Cory would give you the shirt off their back if you were in need. Not much to the town, I think they still have a post office, but that’s about it, no gas station, no bar, no grocery store, but it’s a quaint little place if you wanted to live a very quiet life.
