Rep. Marcia Fudge, a local Democrat, is coming to the aid of embattled ex-congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.
To be clear, she wants it known that Jackson “was the highlight of our karaoke nights,” presumably up on the Hill.
We can only imagine.
Jackson faces sentencing following his pleading guilty earlier this year in relation to blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his campaign coffers. Many of his former colleagues have come to his defense as the news developed.
“He made us realize that we could still have fun, while addressing important national issues,” Fudge went on to write of Jackson’s work ethic. Talking Points Memo posted a link to even more of the epistolary aid in Jackson’s case.
“For years I lived off my campaign,” Jackson told the judge in February. And it’s true – though we’re sure that his stirring renditions of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” also soothed his soul and kept his heart beating well into the night.
