At least 10 police departments are on scene at the Valley View Cinemark after 200-300 juveniles began fighting in the theater lobby, according to a photographer from WEWS Channel 5.

The nearby Quaker Steak and Lube has closed its doors, telling patrons that it’s not safe.

The Valley View police chief confirmed to News Channel 5 that no arrests have yet been made, but that cops were telling the restaurants to lock their doors.

In an interview with WEWS Michael Baldwin, the police chief said the fight began at 9 or 9:30 p.m. inside the theater, moved outside, and the situation is now under control.

No word as to why the fight started, or how that many teenagers got involved.

  1. This is why i hate ppl. Absolutely. Ridiculous. We live in a world wotj no loyalty, no honor and no common sense.

  2. I’ve had this happen to me more then once at valley view bunch of ignorant kids who don’t shut up during movies then want to fight people for telling them to shut up not even worth going there anymore

  3. Already thrilled to watch “The Interview” in comfort of home Christmas Eve…looking forward to seeing most new-release movies that way. Action/Space fun to see on huge screen…but home audio/video so good now, no need on most films.

So have fun, kids…we’ll be safe at home with some beers, pausing for bathroom breaks and not worrying about dumb-asses (at least dumb-asses we don’t know) talking during movie…all for fraction of cost…

  4. I grew up in the 70’s and we fought too but the kids who acted like idiots were a small group, now we have a whole generation of VH1 raised sociopaths.

  5. People used to brawl all the time back in the day, there was just no internet to report it. The local bar in my hometown was called the bucket of blood well into the 70s. Much tamer now. Quit acting like the last generation was perfect. There is no “golden age”. In the 50s, it was generally condoned to beat your children, schools were segregated and interracial tension like we see in Ferguson today was the norm in the South, and rape went even more drastically unreported.

Bullying and fistfights were much more commonly accepted as realities of school life. My dad describes massive organized fights between fans of rival high schools before football games with chains and crowbars. Nothing even close to that happened when I was growing up. We actually used to go to parties afterwards with the same opposing schools that used to beat the crap out of each other in my dad’s generation.

People fought all the time back then. In the 60s and 70s you had the hell’s angels and the cocaine crime sprees, not to mention a whole generation of psychopaths due to the proliferation of hallucinogens (see Manson, Charlie). Brawls and fistfights were far more common thirty-fifty years ago than they were today. I am a regular barfly, and I go to some divey bars, and I have never once seen a full boar, pool cue breaking brawl go down. I’ve been involved in a handful of fights, but I guarantee I would have been involved in a whole lot more thirty years ago.

The difference now is that it only takes thirty seconds for half the world to find out what is going on in a random theater in Cleveland. I’m not denying that this is stupid and ridiculous, but I guarantee you brawls like this happened in the past, there was just no way for all of us to find out about it.

We’re less than a hundred years removed from unpunished lynchings, less than two hundred years removed from public executions, slavery and advertent genocide, and less than three hundred years removed from medieval torture devices. We’re getting less barbaric as time goes on. TV babies and internet babies are a lot less visceral and prone to brutal, hands on physical violence than kids who grow up working in slaughter houses, factories, etc… The modern generations have their own problem, but, statistically, violence is going down.

  6. Brooks Schmitt : thats so asinine. this is NOTHING like two drunks fighting behind a bar. your statement is mindblowing idiotic,

  7. This is why I go to the first showing of the day for every movie I go see now… It’s usually me, my girlfriend, and a few senior citizens.

  8. I just have to say something here, that I am afraid no one has the guts to say. I am not going to racial profile here, just state facts, has anyone noticed that the majority of the problems here are young out of control teenagers? I have many many friends of all different races, Why do these kids feel that they are so big and ba? What makes them think that this kind of behavior is ok? Our prisons are over run with these kids growing up and thinking that acting like this makes them tuff, well, sorry, that makes you an idiot! You want to get mad at me? Look at the statistics, I only speak the truth.I want some of them to watch that video and explain to the people who were in Valley View trying to have a fun time out, and the people of Cleveland seeing the redicilious antics of these out of control kids. This is what happens when you get too big for your britches, and wind up dead. I don’t understand what gave them the right to disrupt and cause fear to other patrons of Valley View. there should be some kind of repucussions to this… I have never been afraid to step out of my front door, until recently. How sad…

  9. Seamus McGee: Your summary of all Brooks said as “two drunks fighting” is what is disappointing. Reading comprehension is fundamental.

  10. I was there last night with some friends the whole thing started because a girl had a short dress on in 20° weather so people kept talking about her then she heard one of the little girls say something so thats when she was like come on you keep talking about me do they were about to fight but before it even happened it was broken up. This all happened around 8:30 – 9:00 . The police kicked everyone out for 30 mins kids kept sneaking back in and out so the manager of the theatre told everyone he was not playing the movie . We all enended up getting a free movie card in return.

After that the police told everyome to get off the premises or you were to be arrested for trespassing. Everyone left and went to quaker shake it was too crowded there were about 50 to 100 kids in there . They called the cops and told everyone to leave . But then everyone ended up going to the oak barrel and of course had been kicked out of there too . There was only a fight in oak barrel . Quaker stake said it was safety issue so we all had to leave.

After i left we heard gunshots , people running , & officers were coming from every single way . My name is nina and that’s the real story from the night of January 2nd 2015

  11. Brooks, The difference being that there use to be respect for the authority of police. They were aloud to do their job. Now there is defiance toward law enforcement, and that defiance is backed up by social media. All and all I think the fact that no arrest were made when this commotion caused several businesses to close in the area is amazing and is a reflection of the political correctness that has now made our country increasingly unsafe.

  12. I have more faith in the valley view local politicians than the local Cleveland politicians. Look how Slavic village politicians allowed the county to push all the worst section 8 recipients into the area to lower property values.

  13. We were at the Oak Barrell about 10 PM when 30+ teens came in causing quite a commotion, threatened the manager and then 20 minutes later were escorted out by 10+ police officers. There was a verbal altercation, but no physical fight in the restaurant. The police were quiet, polite, respectful. The teens were loud, obnoxious and not respectful. In the parking lot, tear gas cleared the crowd and we waited to make our exit. As we stepped outside…..we saw close to 50 cop cars and heard quite a bit of screaming and yelling. It was very intimidating and scary.

  14. I don’t think parents of this generation have enforced the idea, “Be respectful and responsible for what you do and say.”

  15. Wow, a lot of you people are idiots.

1.) These fights are happening everywhere. The same happened at Beachwood mall dec. 26. People are planning them with social media like twitter and facebook.
2.) Defending these kids is laughable. They’re trash and so are their parents. Obviously someone wasn’t raised right or this wouldn’t be happening.
3.) Sure there was no “golden age” but this generation is the first to just cause problems because they can.
    4. Don’t even bring God or Jesus into this. There’s no invisible man in the sky looking down on you. Face facts or get out.
“Tell someone’s there’s an invisible man in the sky and they believe is. Tell them the pain on the wall is wet, and they have to touch it to find out.”

  16. The world is a sad sad place now..people have lost respect and decency for others..those kids didn’t care bout the ppl who’s movie they ruined or the people who’s dinner they ruined they just cared about Makin a scene bcuz they think it’s cool..parents need to step it up..I don’t care if u live on east 55 and fleet and have $1 to ur name respect doesn’t cost anything! Start teaching ur children the right way to live..

  17. The problem is these kids see this shit and are really happy because they made the news. Stop reporting their stupid antics. We used to have fights also 35 yrs ago. We had a lot of kids get involved and when our parents found out it was really bad. We wished the cops would have arrested us. We knew not to get too big and accepted our punishments when we got caught. There are no consequences for their actions anymore. Sorry but time out doesn’t work !!!!!!

  18. I never comment on these types of things, but I feel compelled to today. This type of behavior is embarrassing. Regardless of police brutality or anything else, frankly there is no excuse for this behavior. This gives credence to the things that people of other races already say. These things always over shadow the things that the law abiding citizens and “good” kids do. Which makes it that much harder for those that want to do something with their lives. I didn’t make the rules, but let’s face it perception is everything. When you go to apply for a job, talk to a stranger, or simply walk down the street. The label is thug, criminal, ignorant. You can hide your sexual orientation, and religion. You cannot hide the color of your skin. I cry for those that are not like that but are forced to carry the stigma of others.

  19. wtf.this is not children behaving badly.this is no respect.i am sure the parents are so proud.you get what you sow

  20. Same crazy comments. That’s why I left Cleveland. People love to make jokes about tragic situations behind the auspices of their little screens. Come on Cleveland. You’re better than this.

  21. Lucky you. You left.

Probably laughing at the frozen rain we deal with five months a year, too.

By leaving, you forfeited your for beefing license and your bitching privileges. And you no longer have a dog in this fight, either (No, wait…make that “a chimp”).

On the other hoof, I’m old, poor, and stuck here. For keeps.

And what, exactly, are we better than? How hard it is to accept the truth.

    Chuckles the Clown

  22. These teens are basically not much more than idiots and retards.
It is okay to hold them to a lower standard.

  23. An attitude of entitlement or anything else from these kids is what gets
their butts into a stupid brawl in the first place……just wait when they reach the
Age where they will be expected to go to WORK each and everyday without
cussing and screaming their heads off about life not being fair….and the
Small amount of money in their paycheck, to boot. Outrageous
behavior exhibited by these jerks isnt going to make them
    model citizens, now or ever.
