Before he got into the grilled cheese business, Melt owner Matt Fish thought he’d be a rock star. He played in a few bands and even did some regional touring. Even though he’s turned Melt into a successful franchise, his passion for independent music hasn’t subsided. On Sunday at 11 p.m. on 87.7 WLFM-LP, Cleveland’s Sound, he’ll debut “The Sunday Night Cleveland Meltdown: The Hard and Heavy Weights from All Spectrums of Rock and Roll, Punk and Metal,” an hour-long radio show which, according to a press release sent out by the station, will feature “heavy rock and roll classics, as well as obscurities from bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss and Judas Priest, along with the new hard and heavy from bands like Mastodon, The Sword, Baroness and Torche, plus the punk sounds of OFF!, Bad Religion, The Stooges and Motorhead.” That’s a lot of good stuff to cram into an hour, but we’re looking forward to hearing the eclectic mix of music.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.

  1. This is what I was led to believe 87.7 was supposed to be like (more than 1 hour per week). The constant loop of U2, Coldplay, and Mumford & Sons lost me early on.

  2. Well, if this is what he really wants to do, then I wish him all the best and hope he finds success with it.
