Update: Bellamy finally got back to us but is understandably saying nothing at this point (probably at the direction of the Heat who most likely pleaded with him to stop talking to the media for the love of everything holy). Here’s what he had to say: “no comment. can’t do it, everything has been blown out of context, contact the heat, sorry bro.”
And hopefully that’s the end of the story.

Update: While the details of the when and why aren’t clear yet, it turns out that Matthew Bellamy will not be getting the gold star treatment from the Miami Heat.
About eight hours after we posted this story and Bellamy told us about the dream trip to Miami, a Heat spokesman released this statement:
“An invitation was prematurely extended to him prior to the approval process being completed. Once Management became aware of this, it was decided that this is not something we wanted to do.
Hilarious, right?
I’ve asked the Heat when they informed Bellamy that the offer was no longer valid or official but have yet to hear back yet. It’s at least clear that there was an invitation by the team at some point. I’ve also asked Bellamy about the timeline of this information and am curious what he might have to say.
Either way, yes, we’re still talking about him, believe it or not, and yes, this has reached the point where it’s news on ESPN.

The 15 minutes for Matthew Bellamy should have been long gone by now. Bellamy, if you remember, was the young man who wore a LeBron James Miami Heat jersey to an Indians game in Cleveland shortly after LeBron ditched the Cavs for South Beach. The wardrobe choice was unsettling to the natives. Chants were chanted, vulgarities were hurled, video and photos were taken and before you knew it, Bellamy was on ESPN, every TV station, and every blog.
Why are we talking about him now again, then?
It seems the Miami Heat liked Bellamy’s little exercise of free advertising/ballsiness and extended a special invitation to Bellamy to come on down to Miami, attend a game, and meet the team (where presumably he and LeBron will discuss how freaking fun it is to piss off Clevelanders) — all on the Heat’s dime.
Bellamy posted on his Facebook wall today that he’s off to South Beach this weekend and had this to say to me in a message: “yeah, its a night named after me get to meet the team, all expenses are paid for!! Cant wait super excited”
I’ve got a message out to the Heat’s media relations department to confirm and see what else the team is bestowing upon Bellamy this weekend and why they are rewarding this jackass. I’ll let you know what they have to say.

why you hatin? Cuz he’s a Lebron fan?
Cavs had 7 years to put some sort of talent around Lebron. When push came to shove, everyone player on that entire team, other then Lebron James, could not deliver. Shams! Choke Artists! Floppers!
Now ‘Bron is on a team that did what was necessary to bring him over and add another talent to go along with him and Wade.
What did Dan Gilbert do this off season?
Gripe and cry about losing Lebron. Cavs need to finish last place again to have a hope of reviving their franchise.
Someone please inform this guy that he might be the most uneducated human being walking the planet. He has no grasp of NBA salary cap situations and the events leading up to the point when the player left Cleveland.
You call the team choke artist? LeBron is an effing quitter. He quit on his team in game 5. We won over 125 games in 2 seasons, then LBJ quits and all the sudden the team surrounding him sucks. Screw all Lebron apologists. Go Cavs and F the quitter!
How did LeBron achieve the best record in the regular season 2 years running playing 1 on 15 against every single team in the NBA?? How f*cking dumb do you have to be to keep the “no support” drivel in the conversation?
Hey DoucheDouche oh Im sorry its BronBron We are not hating on the love of your life we are showing extreme love….. for Cleveland!! You should take your love for leDouche to South Beach so you can be with him.
This isn’t about who he’s a fan of. It’s about his freedom to wear a goddamn jersey if he chooses. To spend money for those tickets, be harassed and then kicked out with no reimbursement? And then to add insult to injury, the team invites him down to meet them and then says, “Nope! Just kidding!” No one is rewarding him, if anything it’d be making up for being denied his civil rights, which last time I checked, are a fuck ton MORE important then who wins a fucking football game.
