When he was just a kid, native Clevelander Dave Hill would regularly hear his grandfather, who was Canadian, talk about wonders of Clinton, Ontario. Every Sunday at dinner, he’d insist Canada was the “best.”

As a result, Hill, an accomplished writer, comedian and musician, has always thought fondly of our neighbors to the north and extolled the virtues of the Great White North to friends and family.

If a Triumph song came on the radio, for example, he’d blast the tune, and at age 9, he regularly championed the Canadian healthcare system.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that for his latest book, Parking the Moose: One American’s Epic Quest to Uncover His Incredible Canadian Roots, Hill visited a number of Canadian provinces, reconnecting with his heritage in such places as Montreal, Moose Jaw, Regina, Winnipeg, Merrickville and the aforementioned Clinton.

The book, he promises, is “the greatest Canada-based literary thrill ride of your lifetime.” He’ll read from it at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Visible Voice Books in Tremont.
