Reporter and anchor Katie Ussin will join the Channel 5 morning news team in mid-June, WEWS reports.

“We’re excited to add Katie to our talented and unique team,” the station’s news director, Jeff Harris, said in a press release. “She works in Ohio now and is no stranger to Cleveland, so viewers will connect with her right away.”

Ussin has been with WDTN in Dayton for the past five years. She’s currently one of the station’s main anchors. In that capacity, she traveled to Cleveland last summer to report on the Republican National Convention. Before her time in Dayton, she worked as a reporter and anchor at a station in Billings, Montana. She graduated from Arizona State University.

Ussin will appear on Good Morning Cleveland, the network’s 4:30 – 7 a.m. morning show. She’ll co-host the program alongside Terrence Lee.

She can be found on Twitter @KatieUssin.

  1. I’m concerned about what this says about race in Cleveland. Perhaps Scene should explore the racial ramifications of this hiring?

  2. Newsnet5 needs to get rid of the slogan… “5 on your side” Their not on my side.

In my opinion This new anchor woman Katie Ussin is very boring and depressing to watch. I prefer a news anchor in the morning who is cheerful and fun to watch and she is not anything like that.

  3. I agree with woody, Katie is kinda flat and boring. Corrina was much more cheerful and fun. just what ya need in the morning. so what happened to her?

  4. I miss Corrina Pysa, not sure why they thought Katie would be a better fit. Not the best morning anchor.

  5. I want Christina back! I’m not feeling this new boring lady! I have always watched channel 5. It Is really changing all the time. Terrance Lee you better watch before they get rid of the token. Btw…i also liked Somara too. One more thibg. The channel just brings on folk with no explanation. I don’t like it! PYSA BACK!!!
