Leelah Alcorn committed suicide by jumping in front of a semitrailer on I-71 in Warren County last December. She was a transgender teen who let the world know that years of torment from peers and parents had driven her over the edge.
Now, ODOT is memorializing her with a tribute along the stretch of freeway where Alcorn’s life came to an end. Friends of Alcorn came together to “adopt” the highway and keep her memory alive. The sign went up just last week.

Inappropriate for a sign to be dedicated to someone who could’ve taken many more lives other than her own.
Inappropriate to criticize the way someone chooses to commit suicide when they clearly meant to only harm themselves and not others.
