Nothing quite like a senseless tragedy to send Americans sprinting toward the gun stores. In the wake of the shootings in Arizona, gun sales have surged across the country. Arizona saw a 60% increase, which makes sense both because Arizona is a veritable Wild West of gun enthusiasts and because citizens there witnessed the carnage in their own state.

The only state to see a larger spike than Arizona? Ohio.

  1. There was a time in the not-too-distant past (25 years or so ago) when Lorain County had the highest number of gun owners and hunters per capita of any county in Ohio.

  2. think of it this way,, if someone wanted to go somewhere and shoot the place up,, knowing that someone else there has a gun and will shoot the bad guy so more people won’t get shot,, do you think the bad guy will go on a shooting spree? I don’t think so,, This is why it is a good idea to have more good people carrying guns,, so bad guys who are carrying guns think twice.

  3. Yup!, I went out and personally bought 10 new SEMI-automatic rifles to give to my friends and family to defend Ashtabula County from the hoards of Clevelanders who will try to come here after the economy crashes and there is no more food in the stores.
But Vince did get it right that we all (law abiding citizens) should have more guns. The bad guys have them, why not us?

  4. Vince – I have two questions. 1) Are you a bigot in other areas of life, or just about people who live in southern Ohio? and 2) Are you always so ignorant about the things you write about, or just about firearms? The spike in gun sales is NOT the result of the Arizona gun deaths, as you claim – it is the result of anti-gun politicians’ knee-jerk, gun ban rhetoric that followed it. When the rhetoric dies down, so will the sales spike.

  5. Vince get your story right – we assume every man, woman, and child went out and secured themselves ten new “semi automatic” rifles. AND IT WAS NOT TEN IT’S TWELVE! by the way you have wrote this story we can tell you are a anti gunner, also you must be related to Mr Helmke, both of you talk the same talk.
