The college playoff could expand to six teams — a slot each for the Power Five conference champs and one wild card — with the top two seeds receiving a bye and the two play-in games being contested on the Saturday after the selection show….seed three hosts the wild card and seed four entertains seed five. The losers in the opening round face-off in a “consolation” bowl game, while the Final Four forges ahead to determine the king of turf.
