The Lorain Morning Journal posted an article on their site last night reporting that Bob Feller had died.
He had not. Feller is still with us, though the end is probably near; the 92-year-old is reportedly in hospice after a serious bout with pneumonia and his ongoing battle against leukemia.
The LMJ posted this correction to their story shortly after:
A report posted overnight that said Cleveland Indians great Bob Feller had died was posted prematurely. Bob Feller has not died.
Our thoughts and prayers are obviously with his family right now, both immediate and the larger Indians community. We’re going to lose a great one.
This article appears in Dec 8-14, 2010.

I am so glad my daughter and son-in-law were able to get the little book Bob wrote. I moved to Cleveland in 1948 and immediately became an Indians fan. Coming from Indianapolis, there was not much there and the Indians really made the town back in those days. God bless Mr. Fastball and his family. Such were the days when superior athletes loved their towns and their fans. Not so now. The team of Feller, Garcia, Lemon, Bearden, Mitchell, Hegan, Boudreau, Keltner, Gordon, and all those guys who made us so proud, will always be in our minds and hearts. Talent, loyalty, fame and grace – all of them – and most of them are no longer playing here – playing elsewhere on green fields and with sunny skies.
And they are young again………..and always will be.
