Update II: Today in Parma Halloween decoration news, we’ve discovered the Barrett family has decided to re-install their controversial dead body display after receiving an “overwhelming response from the community” (and probably a few Scene readers).
In a statement to Fox 8, the Barretts stand by their choice of decor:
The decision to put the display back up was the overwhelming response from community. We had police officers visit our home offering protection if we decided to put [it back] up. Parents stopped by saying their kids were upset we took it down. We also received some weird mail that was unwelcomed. After a lot of debating, it came down to the fact IT’S HALLOWEEN and we don’t like plastic pumpkins or skulls. HAPPY HALLOWEEN.”
Happy Halloween, indeed.
Update I (posted October 12, 2015 at 7:48 a.m.): The Barretts have decided to take down the controversial Halloween display after days of attention that ultimately made the Parma family feel unsafe, Fox 8 reports.
“I came down one night a little bit after midnight and happened to see stuff flashing in my front yard and looked out my window and our front yard was full of people that we didn’t know,” Vicki Barrett told Fox.
When asked if she will put up any alternative decorations this year or ever again she said it was unlikely. “I don’t think we even want to do anything.”

A Parma family is under fire this week after their rather graphic Halloween display caught the eye of community members, many of whom send their children to a nearby elementary school, Cleveland 19 News reports.
The display depicts several “dead” bodies, all of which have met their fate in a most unfortunate and gruesome way.
“Shock,” Jackie Anselmo says is her reaction to the decor. “You take a double take because it is a very realistic display. Almost horrified that somebody would think that it’s okay to put it that close to an elementary school,” Anselmo tells WOIO.
WOIO’s Tiffani Tucker reports:
[Anselmo] was so troubled by it that she took a picture and emailed the city to try to get the display taken down. But Parma officials say there is nothing they can do about it because the display represents freedom of expression.
We wanted to hear what the homeowners who put up the display had to say.
“We don’t want to scare kids. We just want to do the Halloween fun of it and but definitely no ill intent, no,” explained Vicki Barrett.
Barrett says she and her husband haven’t had any complaints. She says she even has a two-year-old and a special needs teenager and
would never do anything to purposely frighten children.
No word yet on what the Barretts plan to dress up as for Halloween.

This is an outrage. The city of parma made me redo my driveway and got me for a bunch of violations because of the appearance of my property but they wont have these people take down these sick images of the devils work for the benefit of little children because of freedom of expression?! What about my jacked up driveway being a freedom of expression then? The city of Parma cares more about high property values to keep taxes high so they can make money but they dont mind corrupting the eyes and souls of little children. The city will allow neighbors to complain about another neighbors lawn and fine thwm if they dont mow it according to their standards but not evil Halloween decor? My long grass is a freedom of expression city of parma. You are run by evil people that need God. One day when your time comes all you in legislation of the city of parma you will be in hell for not following Jesus Christ and standing up against this madness. God will judge all of you sick judges, inspectors, and city legislators!
ever hear of a concept called separation of church and state? Parma government has no place telling people to take down their decorations, only reason they would, would be be if it is life threatening.
People like you are the reason this once great nation has taken a turn for the worse….oh no this offends me take it down! Grow a spine and realize it doesn’t really affect you in any way.
@fedupwithpccrowd If that is your argument then Parma government has no business telling me to cut my lawn due to the “bad appearance” it supposedly creates. Do you see that you are fighting for freedoms that are actually corrupting the minds of little children? Jesus says “Better for those who cause one of
these little ones to stumble to have a rock tied around their neck and cast into the sea.” LUKE 17:2 I follow Jesus, who do you follow the devil? You and the city of Parma follow the devil.
Puritans are annoying….
@Donna F If you had a small piece of vinyl siding on your house chipped and the city inspector came and made you pay out of your pocket to fix it you wouldn’t be too happy. Do you understand the argument I give or no you just like to follow your own beliefs because you are right and everyone else needs to believe what you do? What do you prove? Nothing. You are not God. Your beliefs are purely subjective and mean nothing. Jesus on the other hand raised from the dead, which thus proved every Word He spoke to not be subjective, but objective. Follow Him and His teachings. If everyone did this, little children’s minds would not be corrupted. Do you hate kids, Donna?
Don’t be a Nazi asshole. Nobody listen to this guy. I’ve lived in Parma a long time and you have to have a really crappy yard for them to mess with you. Have some respect get off your ass and clean up in the mean time I hope your neighbored build scary displays.
Tastelessness is not a crime. This kind of thing used to be solved by everyone in the neighborhood simply treating these folks like the obnoxious assholes they are. That was of course a different time
it’s the 21st century.. get over yourself Followerofcrist. Sick images of the devil’s work? Where the hell have you been living in a bubble? We’ve had 3 college shootings in the past week and you’re bitching about someone’s Halloween display being to gory? Deal with it.. it’s a HALLOWEEN DISPLAY! You need to check yourself. and stop throwing Jesus and religion in everyone’s face cause this has NOTHING to do with religion. You said and I quote “You’re beliefs are purely subjective and mean nothing”… think about what you said and apply that to yourself.
I’m curious, what street is the display on? I would like to check it out. Pictures look cool. Halloween is meant to be fun and scary.
word has it that it’s over by Denzler School someplace.
Screw you followers of Christ, let my beautiful artwork live! I’ll put one on your lawn next!
Praise Satan! 666
Were you there when jeeeeeesuuuuuus said that, didn’t think so. Don’t preach to your real lord, I am the one who commands and preaches to my minions 666,your forever lord Beelzebub.
If anyone actually knew what was what, they’d realize that an upside down cross is not a satanic symbol. It’s a sign of respect to Jesus. I’m an atheist and know better than that. It’s St. Peter’s cross. As for the decor; it isn’t permanent. That’s why it can remain up for the season. It’s not a sign of poor maintenance, or decay. It’s a decoration. Better that than rotting pumpkins on your doorstep.
@Dan Herb You’re telling me to show respect but you cuss at me and call me names? Dan, you are a hypocrite
@Tmart There is technically no historical evidence Peter was crucified up side down. It could have been right side up. Either way this portrayal in the yard is Satanic when the woman has syringes in her neck and along side a tortured infant. Do you hate kids?
I’m guessing all of you probably allow your children to watch rated R movies and pornography seeing how you have no problem with their eyes seeing vulgar things such as this hell yard. All of you have some flawed brains…Good news, Jesus is the best psychiatrist He can heal you all. Get to the Word of God and let the Word transform your sick, corrupted minds.
@Rebeka the same problem behind the shootings is the same problem with this display, It is the work of the Devil in people’s minds and hearts. Please, can you quote and show me where I mention any particular religion anywhere in my posts? You can’t. That’s because I don’t. Can you show me in the Bible where Jesus says to follow religion? Sick minds come from sick people.
@dan Not if you’re a landlord. You are wrong 100%
@satanourlord It is 2015 AD…After the death of who? Jesus. He rose and proved the truth. What do you prove? Nothing. I will follow Him before you because He leads to perfect life in heaven while your beliefs, along with everyone else’s on here lead to perfect death.
So nobody can address my argument about the sick leaders of the city of Parma allowing this madness in someone’s yard but not a little long grass in the front lawn without a fine? My chipped vinyl siding is an expression of freedom! Why am I only the one discriminated against? The city of Parma cares more about money in the pockets of its sick leaders than the minds of the very children it is supposed to protect. This is just a small scale version of our Federal Government. This world needs Jesus. He is the perfect Judge and Legistlator.
And This Is Why My Husband and I Made The Choice Not To Move To Parma. It’s The People Who Can’t Let Other People Express Themselves Through Their Yard Decorations, Their House Etc. Sooo I’m Wondering. Since You ” Hate ” This Families Creative Display. Are Your Children Bullying Their Kids For The Way They Express Themselves Through Clothes. If We Live In A Country Where ” FREEDOM OF SPEECH ” Is Respected. Who The Hell Are You To Tell Them They Are Wrong. Your Who I Warn My Children About. Hypocrite’s Always Making Peoples Lives A Living H-E-L-L.
P.s. I Also Would Like To Know Where The Display Is Located. I’d Love To Check It Out With My Husband and Kids. And Show Our Support For Their Hard Work And Dedication. Way To Go You Guys !!
And If This Is Their Halloween Display. I Would LOVE To See Their Christmas One !!!
3443 Dentzler Rd, Parma, OH 44134
actually went there tonight and i personally think the display is AWESOME !!
@followerofchrist quit sitting on your crucifix, put down the bible for an hour or two and take care of your property. Its not freedom of expression to let your home look like a pigsty. I think there is something in the bible about keeping your home in order, but I am sure you are well aware of that.
the yard in the picture seems to be well groomed
Why do people take the time to unnecessarily capitalize the first letter of EVERY word in a paragraph? Loud&proud84? Just curious.
Followeofchrist people like you give America a bad name parma tells you to cut your yard bc it reflects badly on the city to see someone who wants their house to look like white trash stop complaining get off your lazy ass and cut the damn lawn stop bitching who gives a fuck what people put in their yards people like you are the reason people have such negative attitudes please fall into a hole and die
Needs a burning cross
@FollowerofChrist Has it not dawned on you that maybe, just MAYBE, the city doesn’t like you? You strike me as someone who whines about every little thing which could be why the city gets you for all of your violations. You’ve clearly angered someone; be it the city or one of your neighbors. They probably know you by name and have you labeled you as the Whack Job of Parma. Your annoyance on here is bad enough. I couldn’t imagine you as my neighbor!
Wow, I live in New Hampshire…it’s “Live Free or Die” over here! I’m so glad I don’t live in a place like Parma that has crazy people attacking your Halloween displays! I go by the saying “always do your best.” And it looks like these good folks did their best job at making a wicked awesome Halloween display! And P.S. I’m a Catholic but I’m not a jerk.
To think this is normal is absolutely disgusting to see how far human beings are… This is right in my neighborhood and you think just because you celebrate this holiday called Halloween you have the right to put up these things! I have one thing to say if that was you in place of the fake body would you think it was “just decorations ” no so stop making a mock of God!
“Do not be deceived : God cannot be mocked a man reaps what he sows(Galatians 6:7)
So go ahead decorate for only God can judge you. God is justice.
It is halloween. Get over yourself, bible thumper. So tired of hearing all of you spewing your religious crap. Go hide in a hole somewhere while us normal people celebrate Halloween. It’s 1 day.
No one is stopping you from gouging out your eyeballs if it bothers u so badly.
The eyes and souls of little children are delicious
Isn’t Halloween supposed to be scary? Or do we need to bubble wrap another holiday because it scares people? Stores and schools can’t say Merry Christmas or christmas holiday because it offends the religious people so call it a Winter break or Happy Holidays.
The ONLY one to do ANY judging is GOD. So why is many trying to do GOD’s work? Either have fun or not but mind other people try to have fun on a day that no bubble wrap is needed.
Not trying to bring anyone to a religion, simply the teachings of Jesus Christ. He proved He has the perfect wisdom and perfect judgment in all things. He would never accept anyone doing this to their yard and corrupting little children’s eyes, minds and souls with this Rated R material. Jesus says, “I’m holy, you be holy.” He also says, “The truth shall set you free.” He is the truth He says, “I am the way, the Truth and the Life, nobody goes to the Father but by me.” I’m sorry if my words seem harsh in any way, but the fact is this, to have Halloween decor that is inappropriate for kids, as well as sin as it goes against God, seems to be selfish in the sense of disregarding the children. This is why Jesus has perfect judgment so we don’t accept things like this. By accepting this decor, one goes against God. Jesus says, “If you reject me now, I will reject you in front of the angels.” The best thing for everyone is to follow Christ. He has the perfect mind.
@Lorie Ann Wise Did you know Jesus was against religion? He never promoted it at all. If you read Matthew Ch. 23 He is clearly speaking against religion. Jesus is about relationship, and once we have a relationship with God, He gives us wisdom so we can govern our lives in line with His will. Would God want anyone to corrupt the mind of children and have a city government sit idly by defending it? No, He would be against it quite much because He is Holy and perfect.
@Just Chill Jesus says, “Blessed are the righteous, for they will be filled.” Filled with wisdom, power, peace, love and joy. Someone with these qualities has no need to litter their yard with Satanic decor and justify it.
That devil guy sure is busy whispering into follower of Christ’s ear every night.
The saga received brief national attention early Saturday morning, as radio talk show host George Noory mentioned it during a segment on his Coast to Coast AM.
It’s Halloween!! Like someone said before… It’s supposed to be scary. Followerofchrist ..so you’re basically saying Halloween shouldn’t be celebrated because it goes against Jesus? Not to mention… What most kids play in video games these days is far more graphic than that display. You’re entitled to your opinion but I think you’re more pissed about what you feel parma did to you than this actual display. Kids love Halloween and know these things are fake. The same kids are going to go trick or treating and many dress up as witches and what not…. Are they also going with the devil? Don’t be so sensitive. Come the holidays should someone take down their religious decorations if they don’t have to do with Jesus just because it offends you?
@followerofchrist and @godisnotdead you both need to fuck off they are decorations problem solved nobody gives a crap what you say we really don’t it’s a fake holiday stop bitching if you don’t like it don’t look both of you need to just drop dead
This is absolutely appalling. Disgusting. Just because you have the ‘right to do something’ doesn’t mean you should. There is nothing funny or cute about this scene- and I don’t care if it’s”Halloween” or not. It looks like an American ad for ISIS… coming to a neighborhood near you! Sheesh folks, get some common sense, some good morals and step away from the dark side. Seeing this scene makes me feel the same way as seeing this one: … … http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/03/07/26689D8300000578-2983901-image-m-30_1425729681491.jpg
@followerofchrist5 you are an overly religious bible banging crack head. Listen to yourself, you sound like a total whack job and I can only imagine that you are. I guarantee those people would get into heaven long before your religious hypocritical bigot ass does! Nut job!
Followerochrist you should kill yourself so you can be with god sooner and spare us all from your bullshit.
Oh no, the big bad Halloween decorations are going to warp the minds of our children. The devil is at work here, blah blah blah. Here’s a tip, you can take it or leave it, instead of preaching about what you think everyone else needs to do to be “Followers of Christ” why not instead just continue living your life and accept that you cannot and will not ever control anyone but yourself. So if you consider yourself to be a “Follower of Christ” what does that look? Do you think it is Christ like to hate, judge and shame others? Unfortunately, based on your words in this thread, you are the hypocrite here my friend.
I don’t have to quote you.. you’ve been spouting and thumping your bible all up and down this thread. All I did was quote the words you said and to apply them to yourself. It’s not that hard to put yourself in another person’s shoes and take some of your own medicine. Clearly you’re so caught up in thumping that bible and screaming DEVIL DEVIL, you forgot how to use a scroll button, you quoted Luke 17:21 asshat so ergo you can’t sit there and really say that you don’t quote religion in this thread so kindly stfu already
There’s no law that says what and how you can decorate for the holidays. How you keep up your property or lack there of on the other hand is…it’s called city ordinances.
A crucifix is a torture device. Having a body nailed to the cross on every Christian alter is offensive.
It’s 2015 we let our kids watch csi ncis and other shows that show gore but wen our community does it religion always comes into play so lets go there your kids go to church in that church is a statue of man hanging on a cross with nails through his hands and feet u tell your kids that’s Jesus he died for our sins but u can’t say that fake about your next door neighbors display get over your self’s u gonna make lil Bobby up the street take off his costume cause there’s blood and death indicated u gonna lock your door wen the grim reaper comes for candy cause that’s death him self
I’m offended that people are offended by this.
@FollowerOfChrist You have got to be the dumbest person I’ve ever seen. There’s a reason we have freedom of religion, and it’s so idiots like you can’t control everyone. By the way, I love how you complain about the city making you fix your house. Oh, I’m sorry, your white trash shitty property offended all the normal, orderly people around you. Move to Cleveland where all the houses are like that and you’ll fit right in! Or you could do what every other person in this community does by taking a break from shoving the bible up everyone’s ass and get off your own and take care of your house. It’s really not that hard. I also love how this “corrupts children’s minds” No, what corrupts them is religion that people like you shove and cram down their throats. They think they have to follow some imaginary dude in the sky just because “people say so”. Seriously? Kids nowadays have the internet, and if they haven’t learned about the devil or Satan or anything like that by now I’m pretty sure they have parents like you who hide them from the real world so they end up getting bitch slapped in the face by reality when they grow up. People who parent their kids like you are why we have little whiny bitches everywhere. Take a moment from humping your God blowup doll and read this, maybe it’ll knock some common sense into you, since “God” obviously couldn’t. -666
@FollowerOfChrist You’ve got to be the dumbest person I’ve ever seen. This is why we have freedom of religion, so people like you can’t go around controlling everyone. I love how you complain about the city making you fix your house. Oh, I’m sorry, the normal, orderly people around you are deeply offended by your trash property that makes their whole neighborhood look bad, as if you yourself didn’t do that enough already. Move to Cleveland where all the houses are like that, and you’ll fit right in! Or you could take a break from shoving the bible up everyone’s ass and get off your own and take care of it. It’s not that hard. If you can’t even get up to work and take care of your house, why do you think it’s okay to tell these people who worked so hard on a FAKE HALLOWEEN DECORATION to get off THEIR asses and take it all down?! I mean seriously, if it offends you so much, DON’T LOOK AT IT! IT’S THEIR WORK, AND THEIR HOUSE. NOT YOURS! If you don’t like it, why don’t you buy their freaking house and take it all down yourself. Actually, don’t. Because that house would turn into trash too, and obviously those people are pretty cool so they don’t deserve that. Second of all, I love how you say this “corrupts the mind of kids”. This is coming from someone who crams religion down children’s throats. Oh, but THAT isn’t corrupting! Making innocent children who don’t know any better NOT to listen and make their own decisions be forced to listen to rules because a magical man in the sky says so. Now THAT’S corrupting. Plus, kids have internet now, so if they haven’t learned about the devil or anything like that by now they probably have stupid parents like you who teach them the world is perfect and nothing bad will ever happen, and if it does they get bitch slapped in the face by reality, and because of you they don’t know what to do because YOU never taught them how to deal with it and let them just whine all the time. It’s parents and people like you that are the reason we have so many whiny people who can’t put up with anything because it “offends” them. How about you teach your kids not to be little wusses and that the decorations are FAKE and FOR HALLOWEEN! Please, take a second from thumping your God blowup doll and read this. Maybe it’ll knock some sense into you since “God” couldn’t. -666
My bad for posting twice. Go by the second one.
The display is doing no harm and hasn’t done any the last two years. Get over yourself and live life and have fun.
These people have kids? They need to be investigated by Children’s Services.
@FollowerofChrist, just an fyi on your ignorance, AD doesn’t mean After Death. It technically means in the year of the Lord, because Jesus lived until 33 AD. Don’t quote the bible and spit out religion to support your own uninformed causes if you don’t even know simple terminology from the religion that you claim to be following so devoutly.
@followerofchrist you poor property conditions will affect neighboring property values and if bad enough, will attract infestation of rodents and bugs. I agree parma takes it too far in the interest of money, but you demanding they continue the overreach to something you don’t like is not any better. That is hypocrisy there (you seemed confused about its meaning).
While we are here, not everyone is a follower of Christ. Centuries of forced conversation and mass murder will turn a few off to such a congregation. For some, Halloween is Samhain, and a time to celebrate the success of the year at the rebirth of the world, and to honor and commune with your ancestors. How about I waltz around your neighborhood in April and demand your Easter decorations be taken down? Is that the kind of morality enforced by the state that you are advocating?
@thefollowerifchrist. Where to start…. You as a homeowner pay property taxes. The city which you live has certain upkeep requirements m and regulations that every home owner must follow. Not just you. So in essence clean your stuff up.
Now on a different note the separation of church and state and the constitutional rights set forth in the first amendment state that you have the the right if you choose to do what this family did. If you’re offended by it that’s you’re problem for being a pansy. God should have bestowed upon you a backbone, and a head full of tolerance. Your God is not the only God out there. And my God doesn’t exist. Get over yourself. Pass this message along to the other people in your parish. Life’s too short to live in fear of God.
Does anyone know the homeowners and if the property is closer than 1000 ft to the school? I’ll volunteer to be a visible armed guard through the night for the family, decorations, and property, if it would not require me to violate OH gun laws. This is BS that people lose their right to free speech because of some first century mentality manifesting itself on their lawn in the dead of night.
@FollowerofChrist The Bible also specifically says that only the Lord can cast final judgment. Your job as a Christian is to show those around you love, compassion, and understanding. Those people that put up the display? Love them with all your heart. You live in Parma? That means those people you say are doing the devils work are your neighbors. How does the Bible say you should treat your neighbors? Please, on behalf of all other Christians on this Earth, stop thinking its okay for you to cast judgment on people for not doing your will. The Lord gave us free will, and if he sees fit to punish those people, he will. But, stop trying to point out other peoples sins as if God isn’t omnipotent. You say you’re a landlord? Well, focus on doing your job and trust God to do his. Bible-thumping goes against the word of Jesus. Love your neighbors should not be misinterpreted to mean “critique their every move and make sure they aren’t sinning.”
@justanaverageguy89 Are you judging me for judging? The biggest love to give someone is the truth. The worst love is not caring enough to help and hold the truth to yourself. Jesus clearly says whoever causes a little one to stumble, better for a rock tied around their neck and cast into the sea. Does He say that in the Gospels?
@davidJenkins The federal law also prohibits youth under the age of 17 to see Rated R movies without an adult. Is it then okay for young kids to see this rated R material? Why can’t my small siding of vinyl be a freedom of expression as well without fine and penalty? Jesus says blessed are the righteous, those who stand up for holiness. It is not Holy to put those things up in one’s yard without thinking of the innocent children whose minds will be corrupted by it. You don’t have the freedom to express anything you want. For example, you cannot say you will do harm to the President, otherwise you will be incarcerated. So there are limits to freedom of expression. Without God involved, the limits are not judged perfectly as we need God in order to have perfect judgment. That’s where His Word, the Bible, comes in.
@666 My friend, do you understand the argument that is being made? Have you looked deeply into the real issues here?
How about balancing the story with all of the numerous viewers expressing support of freedom of speech? or the national bullying that ensued after one-sided mainstream media reports? The definition of diversity is not limited to protected classes, but extends to differences in ideas, opinions, and the way we think. The definition of censorship is not limited to published or broadcast material, but extends to the suppression of something regarded as objectionable. If something offends or upsets you, it does not constitute harm. You have the right to avoid, ignore, or express your own opinion. You do not have the right to threaten and censor diversity into a country of mainstream conformity.
Who cares that it’s next to an elementary school. Halloween is meant to be scary. If it offends you, don’t look at it and make your kids watch sesame street until they’re 16. Everyone gets offended so easily. At the end of the day while you’re eating dinner at home, is it that big of a deal?
Funny thing followerofchrist AD stands for anno domini which in fact has nothing to do with death. It loosely translates from Latin to year of the Lord, meaning the year of his birth. So go educate yourself some before shoving your beliefs down everyone else’s throats.
While I wouldn’t show this to my six year old, I find it interesting and it wasn’t displayed at the school so I don’t see why the butt hurt people couldn’t choose to drive down a different street to take their kids to school.
@getoveryourself Yes you are right, but the AD has always been in reference to Christ. He came and rose from the dead. The best judgment we can have is His judgment, how He would think since He is the perfect being.
so lets see,a cross in every church with a man nailed to it is not scary but the one in these peoples front yard is?
christfollower you really got a bug up your rear about that “chipped”vinyl. woudn’t happen to have a pic of it would ya?
If everybody put the focus into their own lives that they put into being offended by every little thing, this wouldn’t even be an issue. Express yourself, be you, do what makes you happy, other people’s opinions only matter if you care about them. The Display looks awesome, Halloween is meant to be scary. I incorrectly assumed that it was implied to all people that this is a display for pure aesthetics and in no way alludes to Devils or being anti religious or blah blah whatever. Have some fun! Cheers!
Well this all seems like a lot of fun so lets jump into the waters here. Yes, freedom of speech, absolutely you have that right. You also have to show courtesy for other people, and its conceivable that quite a few people might be scared or be disturbed by the display. I always thought of Halloween as a children’s holiday – after all, the kids are the primary reason for Halloween. Sure, you have that scary aspect and zombies are all the rage right now, but no city is going to put on a Halloween festival if its that one day of the year when all the adults get drunk and put up horror displays. What I’m saying is, if you want to go for scary, go for it, but try not to cross that line into “disturbing” territory. If I want to see that kind of gore, I can go to a haunted house for that. I can also stay away from haunted houses and avoid them like the plague if that kind of thing bothers or disturbs me. Where is the line between scary and disturbing, you ask? Well, lets just say that if you get a whole bunch of people to complain, you may have strayed into the whole “too far” territory.
So, the subtopic in all of this is the whole FollowerofChrist thing. First off, kudos to them for sticking with it and replying to most people on here. @FollowerofChrist, I’ll just go back to your original post, since youve replied a lot of times since then and I’m not going to read all of those. Taking care of your property and temporary decorations are two different things. Ironically though, your house and the Halloween Decorations house in the story are the same. People (i’m sure) complained, and that caused other people (like city inspectors) to act in response. I personally hate mowing my grass, but I do it anyways because I want to save money from hiring a service and I like my yard looking nice. It’s a point of pride for me to have a nice lawn and house, because that’s a representation of me and who I am as a person. I want people to see my house and say, “he’s friendly and he takes care of his house” as they wave back while driving past. Yes it might take me a while to replace the bricks that are outlining my flower beds, but there is still progress, I’m working on it, and I’m not violating any city ordinances. I guess what I’m trying to say is, even if you don’t care about how your house or yard looks, you should because it’s a representation of you and religious people in general. And before you call down hellfire on the city, its judges, legislators, and inspectors, maybe take care of your own issues first. How’s the saying go, don’t reach out to remove the speck from your brothers eye when you fail to see the plank in your own? We all have a lot of work to do to make our communities a better place, myself included. We are all in this together, tied through property values and a general sense of community in general. Everyone needs to show courtesy to their neighbors and their property value, and fix things like driveways and maintain things like yards. How would you feel if someone went into your place of worship and started spinning in circles yelling “WEEEEEEEE” with his arms out while you’re trying to do your thing? As annoyed as you’d be with that person, that’s how annoyed neighbors are at “that one house” that always looks horrible and is simply not properly cared for. Don’t be ” that house” and don’t be “that guy”
I wonder what’s going on in the minds of people when they decorate their homes this way.
to me it’s the future torturers if not yet are. And people that have no morality or clear mond.
Basically sick, disgusting people
I agree with everyone against this. I wouldn’t want my kids to see it and have nightmares. It upsets me every time I pass houses like this and my kids close their eyes and keep saying that it’s scary.
Yes, we live in a country of freedom, so my kids should have freedom to see the world the way God created and don’t have to put up with month of stupidity.
5 his country step away from God long time ago. Nothing will surprise me anymore.
I have no problem with carved pumpkins. But I’m surprised I have to explain this to you. Yes, there is no direct correlation that can be easily traced, but common sense should tell us that exposure of kids to violence and gore may make them more prone to committing violent acts.
It’s clear that for a normal human there’s a natural reaction of disgust to sadistic murder and torture. This family displayed it as something interesting and thrilling, as if it is something to be celebrated. Furthermore, these images placed near a school sent the wrong message to kids that are not yet allowed by our society to watch horror movies displaying similar images, perhaps desensitizing them to some extent, while giving ideas to sociopaths.

do you want to be a guard for my property?
Deers are eating everything in my garden,
I think that would be more beneficiary.
I would of kept it up. It was an awesome display. It’s Halloween, kids will b scared regardless. Get over it
This is rated R material. What kind of world has this come to that we don’t seek perfect judgment in our minds, but rather jump on the bandwagon of popularity among society, the kind of life that makes us feel good. Being led by feelings leads to bad judgment. God gave us wisdom and wisdom is not found in the heart, it is found in the mind. Here is His wisdom: This decorations is going to harm little kid’s minds and it is not just for the city to allow based off the argument the city gave. Nobody has even come close to disputing my argument originally posted which proves the lack of wisdom found in the minds of those who do not follow Christ and His perfect ways. “God gives wisdom to those who freely as for it ” James 1:5
First off you religious people can keep your preaching to yourselves. And I hear some of you talking about how you should be allowed to let the grass in your yard grow to whatever length you want if these people can decorate their lawn like this. News flash, letting your grass grow to a crazy length is an enviromental hazard. Ever hear of ticks, rodents, and other vermin you’re making a haven for? Piss poor argument.
Was raised in Parma but its really trashy now. No upkeep by the city and my generation who are homeowners now are just hillbilly, no class. Thats why I moved the heck out of there. I wouldn’t want to look at that all day. Halloween is supposed to be scary fun and imaginative but I can think of way more creative and classy displays then that. Thats a serial killer front yard. Gross.
