The venerable old Carousel Dinner Theater, which has sat dormant since shuttering its doors in January 2009, was sold at auction today.

From Ohio.com:

The landmark Carousel Dinner Theatre building in South Akron was sold at auction today for $470,000.

The buyer was the J.W. Didado electrical contracting company, based near downtown Akron on Vernon Odom Boulevard.

Gary Didado, one of the owners of the family business, said the company considered the location and the price a good deal and that it had been looking for property in that neighborhood for its operations.

Vince Grzegorek has been with Scene since 2007 and editor-in-chief since 2012. He previously worked at Discount Drug Mart and Texas Roadhouse.

  1. It is a shame to see such a landmark like Carousel Dinner being torn down. I have many fond memories of wonderful performances at the Carousel. I introduced my now 13 year old daughter to the theatre through the Carousel & she loves it. I am truly missing it.
