Chardon, like many other school districts around the state, had a levy on the ballot last week asking the taxpayers to open their wallets and fork over some money. And like many other school districts around the state last week, Chardon’s levy failed (3,091 to 2,299).

Reasons for this are many, but Chardon’s mailer couldn’t have helped. Touting “Chardon. Your Town. Your Schools,” the slick photo shows two students holding an alphabet board. The problem: A, B, C, D, E, F, O… wait, that’s not how it goes.
