An Akron postal worker is in trouble for rifling through and looting mail that didn’t belong to her. 34-year-old Chrisoula Pipilakis was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of theft of mail by a postal employee, according to the PD.

Prosecutors say she worked for the U.S. Postal Service for three years in Akron and stole seven gift cards totaling $180, a paltry sum if you ask us. If you’re going to rob the mail, go full-tilt. Rip open every colored greeting card envelope and dig for every $10 birthday check from every kindly grandmother.

$180? Hardly seems like a worthy payoff given the risk of up to five years in jail if you’re caught. Hopefully she enjoyed a nice shopping spree at Wal-Mart or a fancy dinner at Red Lobster before she was nabbed.

  1. my package was stolen also, do these people get background checked they are common criminals.

  2. no they don’t get any background checks.hell i know distribution centers where convicted felony thiefs work.ever since they went private the post office is a joke.this is just a bone to quiet the public but theafts occur all the time at the post office.its the worst way to send your mail.they need to just close it for good and everyone goto another delivery system.

  3. ALL postal workers have background checks which include county, and FBI.
You cannot be a convicted felon and work at the post office.
There are just bad apples in all bunches including your family.

P.S. the postal service did not go private. Where do you get your info from? How about doing research before speaking.

  4. First it doesnt say if she was a casual or not casuals do not need back-ground checks, no do they take any oath not to steal the mail but then they are paid at a much lower wage than a regular employee. Anyone that steals mail should go to prison for the 99% of Postal Workers are Honest and hardworking its that 1% that gives the rest of us a black-eye. During my 19 years as a Postal employee Ive never slept on the job, I do my job every day and go out of my way to work around stupid, over-paid managers to insure that the american public gets their mail in a timely manner.
