A reader chimes in, via voice mail, on “The Wild, Wild West Bank,” a story in this week’s Scene about Flats’ business owners’ efforts to shut down Mirage. I came from Colinwood, and I came from residential streets. I’ve seen the same behavior that [Scene] wrote about in the Flats and in Mirage. I’ve seen white people up and down those residential streets doing the same thing, partying hard, you know the hippies, they party hard in those residential streets. Then they don’t want black people coming downtown, but we was was raised and born in this city—built this city. They don’t want us down here because they built million-dollar houses. 1. If all of the blacks would promise to stay in cleveland, I would let theme have the entire warehouse district and the flats. Let them turn it into trash, just like the rest of the stinkin town.

  2. I’ve had my own fun down there ruined by people being fools, black and white. Just because you’re there doesn’t make it your house. As a matter of fact you’re just another guest, so don’t ruin the party for everyone else.
But shit gets out of hand and then everybody suffers- you see, the only easy way to stop the fools is stop everybody…and in this town things always get done the easy way.

  3. I don’t think it’s that they don’t want black people in the Flats. They just don’t want people who are going to trash the streets, break noise ordinances and shoot people.
And that’s true no matter what color you are.

  4. Plain and simple: No matter if you are black, white, red, blue or fudge ripple… Stop imposing the loud obnoxious in-your-face ill mannered lawless behavior at clubs and you will not be “un-welcome” You’ve taken over the whole inner city..what more do you want.. Me? Not racist, just realist, so please spare the comments oh ye few exceptions to the rule…

  5. I also think that instead of worrying about clubs… This writer needs to take some serious grammar courses.
Learn how to behave in clubs and handle your alcohol and you will have plenty of places where you’re wlecome…too bad you do this to yourselves…attract this image that makes people assume things about all of you including those who don’t deserve it.
