The dog’s female owner came home from a two-day trip to discover her husband had harmed the animals, a police report said. He has been charged with an animal cruelty felony and was also taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following an attempted suicide.
The woman told police that after going through her text messages, she discovered one from her husband that hinted at him trying to cut the puppy’s throats.
The dogs are now in custody of the Humane Society of Richland County. The animals will be up for adoption after their wounds have healed, hopefully in a few weeks.
