Samaria Rice, mother of Tamir, spoke for the first time publicly today with ABC News. The interview follows the news from Friday that the family had filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Cleveland.
“I’m looking for a conviction for both of the officers,” she tells ABC News. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial for the two officers involved in the shooting death of Tamir.
She also tells ABC News that her 14-year-old daughter was tackled by police when she arrived at the scene of the shooting, a fact first reported by Shelly Gracon, who was interviewed by Scene.

The Rice family and attorney Benjamin Crump will hold an 11 a.m. press conference, which can be watched live via most TV stations’ websites in town.
