Solidifying the frontrunner Republican ticket, Secretary of State Jon Husted will drop his own gubernatorial campaign and join Mike DeWine as his running mate.

“Republicans have been fighting with each other long enough,” Husted wrote in a public statement, using some really physical verbiage. “Had I continued my run for Governor, Mike and I would have fought a brutal campaign that would have left the winner bruised and broken with only a few months to rebuild in time for the General Election.”

Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci are still in the Republican primary race.
