All Akron resident Kristen DeGroat wanted to do was sell her horse to another pet-lover. The pinto was old and DeGroat was poor, so last week she placed an ad in the classified section of the Saginaw News and The Bay City Times, looking for $200 or the best offer.
Unfortunately, the ad ended up under the headline “Good Things to Eat.” DeGroat received about 60 calls, one-third of whom were looking for cheap horse meat. The girl was outraged — as were some callers. “I had a lady call whose friend was just in tears over this thing,” DeGroat told The Saginaw News. ”It doesn’t help that my cell phone number starts with 666.”
But no fear. A man in Michigan ended up buying the horse for his grandchildren. — Rebecca Meiser
