Via Cleveland.com, Chardon High School shooter T.J. Lane has been behaving poorly in his first few months in prison. Lane is serving three consecutive life sentences for killing three students and injuring others in a February, 2012, school shooting.
Reports from the Allen Correctional Institution in Lima, OH, where Lane is currently incarcerated, indicate that the 19-year-old Lane has already been in trouble for giving himself a tattoo and twice refusing to carry out work-related assignments. He’s been verbally reprimanded and punished with the loss of recreation time.
In the meantime, Lane’s lawyer is currently trying to appeal Lane’s life sentences, arguing that treating a minor as an adult is unconstitutional. Lane was 17 at the time of the shooting. He later demonstrated an utter lack of remorse at his sentencing in March of this year.

There are no winners in this. Lane is obviously suffering, which is what the majority familiar with his case want. He IS responsible for his predicament but I can’t forget too the poor family background and the fact that he is still just a teenager. As I said, no winners. I may be one of the very few who doesn’t get any satisfaction out of this latest information……

I do not condone what he did in any way, shape or form. He killed 3 people, but he went against the advice of his lawyers and plead guilty to save the pain of a trial. He acted the way he did that last day because he learned his grandparents were being sued for his actions.

Yes, what T.J. Did is absolutely horrible and wrong on so many levels. However, he is a human to and deserves fair treatment like the rest of us. Free to do as he please no, but to say no recreational time or to throw him into a hole and rot.. Come on now. Honestly, if you ask me you’re all reaching up to the lowest level that this kid probably was on when he committed these crimes. You are clinically insane and inhumane yourself. The real question you have to ask yourselves is, ‘What do a bunch of high school bullies have to say to a kid to push him, far enough, to kill them?’ Obviously, they weren’t just innocent high school students who just minded their own business and didn’t harm a fly. TJ is showing signs of antisocial personality disorder. It’s good he’s being watched, but if you want him to show remorse, that’s not going to happen. He needs hospitalization, not incarceration. He should be treated before he is punished for his crimes. That way, he will learn what he did wrong, feel guilt, and understand why he I’d being punished.

This is a kid who had no parental guidance. He was let down by a lot of people and had a school that turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to bullying. This kid snapped. But that is not my situation and looking at if from an unclouded judgement I think he was/is scared, whether remorseful or not. I don’t think prison will do him any good nor will it do anyone else any good. I think we would all fair much better with a little psychological research into finding out how/why kids have this lack or reality/empathy for other living beings.

Mark Dimarco and his stepfather come to mind. Dimarco was found guilty of killing a North Royalton nurse brutually with one Shannon Kidd, both 17 y/o. Dimarco’s family was a pain in the arse as he sat in County Jail. Anyways, he hanged himself in a few years. His stepfather murderd his mother then hanged himself dying a few weeks later. I’ve worked in corrections and law enforcement since 1973 at the old Third District. My son attends Berkshire. With the two recent high profile suicides in Ohio prisons, TJ may be next.. Personally, I feel he was a mistreated and bullied youth. Children/teens can be extremely mean. Maybe there was more to this than told. I bet he was a positive tox screen at birth. He ain’t havin a fun day. Look at Dahmer.

My mother was a stripper and a drug addict., my father a two time felon, serving 25 years now for assault. I was caring for my toddler sister when I was 10. Twice beaten up by mom’s men friends before I was 15. Lived in fear every day.

It is a failure on many levels (parenting, teachers, friends, family, students, ect..) who knows exactly what led to this tragedy happening. Maybe he is mentally ill and never got the treatment he so desperately needed. Maybe his parents didn’t raise him properly.. As a punishment for murdering 3 people, being put in a US jail is like being at the Hilton. While rapes and abuse do happen in prison, it is not even close to as frequent as it is portrayed in the media and is getting more and more infrequent with better prison policies and tactics. He will never have to worry a day in his life about what us normal folk do.. Food, shelter, money, ect.. It is all provided for him for free by US tax payers. In some instances, living in jail is much better than living outside.. Another comment here said he will miss being outside and enjoying things like child birth.. yes, that may be so, but I can hardly call him having all these amenities provided for him without having to earn them and fight for them like us people of the outside a punishment. Heck he may even be able to enjoy child birth as many prisons allow conjugal visits.

I feel truly saddened for for the families of the victims of this shooting but I am saddened also for a young man named T. J. Lane who has been thrust into a world full of brutality and violence in prison were he will most defiantly be turned out and forced into situations you could only say were your worst nightmares he may have shown no remorse at his trial but as the years go by and he has only time on his hands so to speak he will contemplate his actions I have personally witnessed what that kind of environment that can do to a person. I see overwhelming hatred…humans have so much compassion that can be overlooked when they let their hatred take over. Having compassion for another human that has done such a terrible thing does not lessen the compassion and sorrow that we feel for the victims. To measure the level of humanity a civilization has look no further than it’s prisons. I am saddened by the hatred many people have, perhaps those that hate so viamently may actually understand TJ more than they know…maybe they feel the same hatred and indifference towards his life as he did his victims. I wish no one death, compassion and empathy is what I wish for them. It would be the only way in which a person would truly understand the nature of their crime but it would also be their ultimate punishment.

If we try to do God’s work we look forward to meeting our creator. If we don’t ask 4 forgiveness then we continue with our mistakes in life. Help people when you can, this world has become so full of hatred that I would have to guess Our Lord is not happy with us. A 17 year old kid commits a heinous act, no doubt, but some of these comments here leave me to wonder if I haven’t been shipped off to another planet. This kid from the onset never had a fighting chance in hell growing up. It’s obvious something went terribly wrong along the way, so to see that there are posters writing and hoping for sweet revenge on this troubled person in the most horrendous kinds of ways seems to negate any empathy or compassion that same poster may have for the victims and victims’ families of this tragedy. Instead of wishing such hateful acts upon him, you should all be thanking the Divine Creator for blessing you with something that this young boy was overlooked at receiving himself.

I have 5 boys all of which are grown men now. When they did sonething wrong growing up many times they would cuss, act like they didn’t care. I remember one of my sons cracking up laughing when he threw a rock at a bees nest and the bees swarmed our puppy and it died. I knew how much my son loved that puppy so why did he think it was funny? People react badly for many different reasons the thing people are missing is that he was. But, I can guarantee that a young pretty boy like him.. Well, he is being raped on a daily basis by all sorts of different inmates, and will certainly contract aids along with all kinds of other sexually transmitted diseases. He is not laughing now.

We are worried about making sure they have play time? Maybe they get cookies, Tea and a blanket to nap ant 3:00 P.M. Prisoner rights? what? I thought you loose your rights when you go to prison.
He’s at lucasville right now. Trust me and believe me! When he steps out of line the guards at SOCF will rearrange his face for him. There are no guards in Ohio like SOCF. It’s funny that he’s such a problem at other prisons but while he’s been at SOCF he has been on his best behavior. Ask anyone that’s done time in Ohio about lucasville.
I know I’m “late” but why are you all so rude like really quit being a bunch of butthurted asshole and forgive this child, he did this for many reasons.. The main reason… Probably was because one of the guys he killed threaten to beat him up. He was basically defending himself also.. lets not forget his childhood… that was all a fucking mess. I feel deeply sorry for him.. having to grow up in that kind of situation. I hope he is in good care.. and gets the treatment he needs… he does not need to suffer for something like this in Jail….. yes I know it’s wrong to kill people.. but still… it’s also wrong to threaten people… he was threaten and he grew up in fear. Society isn’t to blame. People make choices. The biggest problem I see here is everybody having an excuse when they mess up. “It’s the parents fault” or “he was depressed.” Guess what? Many people have had it as bad and many have had it much worse than him and ended up fine because of the rational CHOICES they made. Sometimes people are just pure evil and have to be dealt with without excuses. We don’t need liberal bitches crying and making excuses for the poor actions others.
