Last summer's harrowing Ohio State Fair's ride malfunction left 18-year-old Jennifer Lambert with a traumatic brain injury and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical bills. Now, according to court documents, Lambert is set to receive $1.8 million in a proposed settlement against the Fire Ball ride's operators and inspectors.

The court must officially approve the settlement before the deal is finalized.

While Ohio officials announced last month that a settlement agreement was reached with those injured last summer (seven people in all), some of the riders are still considering claims against the ride’s designer, manufacturer and supplier.

Read up on the trajectory of the Fire Ball ride event, which ended up killing one teen, and subsequent investigations here.
