Get hungry, Cleveland. And loosen those belts. Here are the five best food challenges that can be found in our robust, peckish town.

Touch’s Tuesday Burger Challenge

Where: Touch Supper Club ( touchohiocity.com) 2710 Lorain Ave Ohio City

If you are adventurous, you can attempt this burger behemoth. It is free if you finish, or $30 if you fail. First is the tower of beef comprised of 3 lbs. of meat with three complete buns, and a variety of toppings that switch every Tuesday. If you even get past the burger, you must also scarf down the side of frites, plus a draft beer.

Prize: Bragging rights

Cost: $30 or free if you finish

Shula’s 48-ounce Steak Challenge

Where: Shula’s Steak House 2 6200 Quarry Lane Independence

The Challenge: With a four-day notice required, 48 ounces of prime beef is flown in directly from Shula’s Steak House in Miami. Pick your temperature, grab your steak sauce and pick two sides, as you have 60 minutes to complete the challenge.

The Prize: Have your name immortalized in the Shula’s 40-oz Club

  1. Just witnessed a double tried-and-failed of the Terminal Tower challenge. That thing is HUGE and impossible!

  2. I can think of several wing restaurants that aren’t chains also located outside of Cleveland and headquartered outside of the Cleveland area that could have been mentioned over Quaker Steak. To say 5 challenges in Cleveland and have a chain restaurant just sorta bums me out… even though technically, there are Quaker Steaks in Cleveland. But why not give props to the local places though? Congrats on the other mentions.

  3. I think they mentioned QS just because the wings are so hot, it’s insane. I doubt any local place has wings hotter than QS does.

  4. Try the “I dare you!” or the “I double dog dare you!” Sauces on your wings at Brindaliers in Willoughby Hills… Route 91 and Route 6. I dare you!
